Para Reg new colours

A week old story but still worthy of some attention here on Arrse. It’s not every day Para Reg are on the square. HRH The Prince of Wales presented the Parachute Regiment with their new colours last week and The Red Devil’s jumped in and presented HRH with a vintage Parachute Denison smock. Video attached.

Early happy memories of jumping with members of the Regiment. Not so happy memories of being beasted by a Colour Sgt of the Paras at ITC Lympstone. Various good friends in the Regiment.

Good to see that. Thanks for posting.

New colours? Still look like Daphne du Maurier's curtains to me.

:)

Any chance of adding Bogside and Ballymurphy to the battle honours?

Gen question. Are the officer's Sam Browne's black? It looks like the belts of those in the ranks are black too.

Or is it just a colouring anomaly from the video?

Brown. You can see the officer at the far right of the video holding the colours is wearing brown gloves.

I was fully expecting to find that, in line with modern alphabet-soup requirements, the beret had been considerably lightened in colour . . . Fortunately not.

On what basis is the decision to issue new colours made?

14.023 Scales of Issue. Scales 1 and 2 at Annex A, show the scale of issue of standards, guidons and colours and associated equipment. LF PS12(A) maintains a register of the holders of standards, guidons and colours showing dates of issue. In January of each year, LF PS12(A) will issue details of items ready for presentation, work to be undertaken in the next FY and a forecast covering the following 20 years or so. These details will be based on the normal replacement periods of:

a. Household - Every 10 years. (May be replaced earlier subject to conditioning Division board.)

b. Regular Army and RMAS stand of colours - Every 20 years

c. HAC - Every 25 years.

d. TA - Every 30 years.

e. Ballater Colour, RMAS Sovereign’s Banner, banner of ACF and CCF and banner of DYRMS and QVS - When required by conditioning board

f.
Royal Gibraltar - As proposed by CBF Gibraltar and agreed by LF PS12(A).

Its OK. Your safe...by a year...possibly two.

I had to go and check on my first ID card.

‘Duffer' increasingly the operative word. :-(

But then I guess you’re beginning to clock the creaks and groans creeping in ??
