Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi everyone, after a bit of info, am looking at getting hold of a Para helmet instead of the Mk6, I am a 57/58cm beret, would it be best to get hold of a medium or large?
  2. I'd go for large , I have a size 57 beret and take a size L helmet

Mind you its not a "para helmet" whatever that is , its also too big

    Hope this helps :p
  3. Get a chit excusing you wearing helmets ;)
  4. I just took the polystyrene guts out of an old crash helmet, painted it green and scrimmed it. Lasted me about 6 years before I got caught, excellent for CFTs and stuff, weighed about 5 oz!
  5. Brilliant idea A_D
  6. I eventually sold it to a TA wedge WO2 for DM 100, having convinced him it was one of the "new ones", I was "trialing" (this was in "85 or 86)!
  7. Keep your MK6 they worki better in combat zones

Para helmets are not ballistically sound, unless you don't mind.
  9. Not only is it not ballistically sound but it only lasts for 10 years - worth checking if you plan to use it in its intended role!
