P0rn: Poison For the Brain?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Now, I know that NOBODY around here uses p0rn (*cough*)! This is a really interesting presentation on how the human (esp. male) brain responds to it, including evolutionary imperatives, and changes in neurochemistry. Poison or not poison, I thought it really interesting. Apparently viewing it tells your brain, "Man, you have hit the evolutionary jackpot!" and your sexual impulses respond accordingly...

  2. I don't look at porn. I can also spell it correctly.

    And you're a secret homo.
  3. I make a habit of spelling it in a less offensive form when I'm posting from certain venues.

I've mentioned before that I have a friend who's a cognitive neuropsychologist. Stuff like this--how our brain reacts to various stimuli, the evolutionary imperatives that make it so, our neurochemical responses, etc--fascinates me.
  4. Porn is not a swear word it's a abbreviation of pornography also not a bad word!

Jesus do you live in the bible belt of America?
  5. I'm currently posting from a place where who knows what someone might find offensive. I once got an interview without coffee because someone went to a manager saying I was "racist" after hearing me make a generic comment to a friend that Congress was screwed up (generic in that I made no reference to party, nor to any individual congressman, just stating Congress was dysfunctional). So yeah, I try to spell "controversial" words in less "controversial" ways. Everybody wants to find a reason to get offended and go whining to the boss these days.
  6. No my child, I live in North Yorkshire.

  8. Yes porn affects the brain IMMENSELY.

I owe my entire repetoire of IT skills, a small command of the German language , and a smattering of Japanese (the word bukkake but Im working on others) all to porn.... and in my youth searching and foraging in hedges and woodland was an ability finely honed in the quest for mouldy paper.....

It certainly requires lots of missionary work.

It's a perfectly acceptable position to find oneself in.

  12. I have to admit that I frown on porn; usually because I'm concentrating.

Interesting article and good post, despite the usual Arrse meandering.

Does that not make it harder for the cameraman to stay in focus?

  14. I don't think Porn is considered poison to most meat eating men,and it can't be negative in the Brain if it involves the same Physical process as reproduction, guess its just easier to make the bald man cry than using memory alone, sometimes easier than pleasing the miss's, I think more and more women are warming to it, but it was the spawn of the devil as I was growing up.
