Oxfam Staff Sexual Exploitation

My view; yes. There’s something very wrong with the way NGOs deliver if they leave women with no choice but to tom. I’m no prude; I’ve no issue with the transaction. It’s more the way that NGOs create dependency, creating a market just by being there.

Over the years I’ve developed a bit of a dislike for long-term NGO professionals. I question the motivations of many of those I’ve met.
I agree. Your assertion that the NGOs aren't delivering if local women have to go on the game is also accurate.

Playing devil's advocate though - if those women are pros, they would be doing it whether the NGOs are there or not, as it may be their only method of generating income. You could argue that the NGOs' rate is high enough where the women don't have to do it as often as if business was strictly local.

The flip side of that of course, is that humans tend to be twunts and they can and do take advantage, which isn't acceptable, particularly when procuring "green fruit." There may be women who are coerced or blackmailed into it, which is pretty evil. I personally hope that anyone who does that receives a healthy dose of something incurable.

Was there a rumour knocking about tri-service's mid to late 90's that the Andrew had it's first AIDS cases after a ships visit to Haiti??? memory may be playing tricks so apologies if I am wrong.

Oxfam scandal deepens with allegations of 'sex for aid' and abuse in charity shops

Going well then.

Now which other Lefty infested organisation spent decades systematically covering up known abuse with senior management in continual denial?

But don't worry, these are baseless claims from evil right wingers attempting to undermine all the progressive wor....

Oh it is their former Head of Safeguarding lady who was forced to resign in the face of total inaction. Bugger.

I just hope Sub Lt Penny RNR at last gives Oxfam (and others) the rodding they have so long deserved and that the Charity Commissioners wake up and smell the coffee and indeed the stench of sewage after years of casual inaction.

Apparently while jumping around in a flooded river in the midst of a flood, and ending up looking like a mud-covered gibson's dog, amongst other mud-covered labradors, I made a mistake by using the word.

We have had problems in the past with homophobic and racist content and are now very strict in controlling it. Your post (CaptainRidiculous) is not acceptable and please do not post similar content in future.

Apologies to any and all I may possibly have offended.

None taken. Though you may wish to attend my Labrador Awareness Workshop? London, Newcastle and Glasgow. Here we explore Labrador exclusion with a break-out session where you may explore your inner Labrador with the aid of anatomically correct Plushie Labradors (wet-wipes provided).

You do not need to be a Labrador, it is enough that you identify as a Labrador. We look forward to seeing you, Rover.

Our Newcastle meeting is next month at Blackie Boy | All Seeing Eye| Newcastle

Glasgow in March at Blackfriars Glasgow | Free house, real ale, good food

The Manchester meeting is cancelled on account of nobody wants to spend time in Manchester.

£987.50 ex accommodation. Please PM me for details, yah?

I'm afraid that is a generalisation too far. We know a young woman, 30-ish and very good looking, who is an escort. She knows exactly what she is doing, which is making a fortune serving a pre-existing market that has a shortage of quality supply. She is not a junkie, pays tax, is conscientious about her health and is a well brought up young lady.

I agree that this is not the same thing as was going on in Haiti, which was horrendous by any measure, but your generalisation is well wide of the mark.
We could debate who is exploiting who in that set up ad infinitum, but I just cannot believe that any woman can be repeatedly fucked for payment without incurring some sort of mental scarring or hang ups in later life
The romantic notion of the happy hooker dripping in diamonds and feeling great about herself is just that IMHO!

Popcorn indeed .. the MSM's all over Oxfam. Latest, the chairman of the charity has been arrested in Guatemala, "detained as part of an investigation into a corruption scandal from his time as Guatemala's finance minister" (BBC). Another was forced out of his Liberian role with Merlin over sex worker allegations in 2004, before working for Oxfam. Other headlines, "Abuse rife in Oxfam shops" and The Guardian says "Ministers have “serious questions to answer” over the handling of concerns about Oxfam’s safeguarding reportedly sent to two government departments in 2015".

The media are in a feeding frenzy - I'd expect lots more to come out about far more charities than Oxfam when "abused young victims" are encouraged to come out and make allegations. This could make the Saville affair look like small change.

All boiling up nicely and long overdue for the whole rotten sector.

Just waiting for the independent review, lessons will be learned, robust and effective policies blah blah blah...

If it was going to be any where it would of been Mombasa and the East of Suez patrol, 3/4 months cuffing up and down the east coast of Africa, sounds exotic, no its not.

I do so hope the Savile comparison is widely used as that's seen as the height of disgusting behaviour for many, despite being largely unproven. This Oxfam kerfuffle seems to have recent facts that can be verified without relying on a Top of the Pops teenager dredging her memory banks from 30 years ago.
