Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm looking to sign up the army at the end of my degree and after I have completed my round of braces.

After braces I'll have this operation done to correct my jaw.

Orthognathic surgery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is this likely to render me unfit for joining?

  2. will you still be able to talk & bark out orders?
  3. mate I had that done WHILST I WAS IN!
going by experience think long and hard before having it done, all I got out of it was a lifetime of dental problems, I had a tooth extracted 3 months back and a bit of wire came out with it.
I had a small overbite so they took a bit out of each jaw and removed a pile of back teeth to re-align everything then the jaws were wired together for 3 months...I say again think long and hard.

But just think of how ally you will look when the instructor demands you and all the other recruits show pocket knife.
