Saved the life of the wounded commander of the Warrior she was in, whilst under fire. More details in the RAMC forum.

  7. Nice one! Hat off to the young lady!

Had to ask never hear of a female MC winner before

Well done. Good to see so many honoured

  9. Just out of a matter of interest - our forces have won 2 VCs in the recent actions, have the US or canadian forces received their equivalents whilst on ops there?

Perhaps, but I'm not about to trawl through the US awards list - they'll be hidden amongst all those 'regular bowel movement' medals and 'reading without moving lips' and 'being in an aeroplane within several hundred miles of somewhere dodgy' awards...

  11. I believe the US has awarded 2 (or possibly 3) Medals of Honour, I think all postumous

There was one Marine who got the Navy Cross who IMHO think should of got it, but its their call

  12. ISTR that there have been at least two Medals of Honor awarded, namely to Sgt Paul Ray Smith and Cpl Jason Dunham USMC (both posthumous). Not sure about the Canadian forces, though.

Edit... having looked at the Canadians now...

They've not awarded anyone a VC (restored as Canada's highest gallantry award in 1993), but there's been one recipient of the Star of Military Valour (which I assume is the CGC equivalent) to Sgt Patrick Tower. This was announced at the end of October, so I guess that there haven't been any further awards to date.

Could this make him the most decorated british soldier?

  14. Couldn't see Major Loden's name. You know, he of leaked email fame...

Coincidence? Or just that he didn't do anything worthy of a gong?

Tin foil hat adorned, by the left, quick MARCH...

BTW. Congratulations to all those receipients. Job well done. Deepest sympathies to NoK whose loved ones sadly didn't come back in mind and spirit.
