Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I read the book last summer and loved it - now I am reading it again and taking my time. It's amazing how many basic mistakes the author makes.

He keeps on referring to the Royal Irish Regiment as the Royal Irish Rangers

He mentions that they are Northern Irelands equivelent of Para reg and that the RIR parachuted into Sierra Leone

I'm looking to see if there are any more - page 30 so far so theres bound to be many more.

Feckin' journos and their lack of proper esearch!

He gets confused over the use of OC and CO but... Its a pretty good book... would make a good film! I presume most of what he writes is kosher...

  3. Yes, pretty accurate.

And I agree, I wonder why no-one has brought the film rights - not that I would know how to do such a thing!

  4. Maybe Ken Loach can make it - with the peace loving West Side Boys getting persecuted by the Colonial Storm Troopers from Britain?

  5. :D lol good one.

  6. It is an absolutely apalling book littered with mistakes none of which I can remember at th moment as I binned the book. Also I think the photso have wrong captions in.

tis a good book though, and i do agree it would make an excellent film if done properly!

  8. There is another book by William Fowler, titled Operation Barras, that is marginally worse SAS porn.

  9. It's a good story; wondered why some of the Belfast lads speak like yanks tho... 'F*ckin A'???? wtf?
