It all depends on your unit admin office to put in the paperwork the initial issue was done on the baisis of who was going to be in the public eye (I think). We were doing public duties so got ours in 6 months (Which is fast for the Army) all comes to those who waite!

That sounds about right, it would be quicker to claim asylum and get settled in the UK than it is to get a poxy medal

Got mine two weeks ago (from Telic pre-numbers with rosette and bar), but Chief Clerk had had it in their desk drawer since early November! P#ssed me off a tad as I would liked to have worn it at the Cenotaph on Rememberance Sunday. Usual Army efficiency I suppose.

I realise that this was posted some time ago, and of course totally agree about the need for unit admin offices to apply. Just want to add the point that it is obvious that in many cases units HAVE applied but the medal has yet to be issued, months or years later. I know this from personal experience (not TELIC but a different less impressive gong).

Me - Telic no number but no medal yet. However, as I understood it priority was as follows (or something along these lines):units that had suffered fatalities, units on public duties, units with casualties, everyone else.

The Medal office did invest in another minting machine (or was it another 2) and tripled the work force from 2 to 6 people. This enabled them to complete the Afghanistan medal run and start/increase production of the Iraq medal.

Your unit can queue jump by getting a Royal to come and present them - the name dropping of a title being awfully dissappointed at not being able to present the medals at their forthcoming visit usually speeds up the process.
