Op Telic 10

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Due to circumstances beyond my control I have been demobbed from Op Telic 9, and told to volunteer in 6 months! Does anyone know who is going out as T.A Force Protection Coy at BAS for Telic 10?

Also can someone confirm where 6 Scots are going? Keep on hearing different gen fromdifferent people......
  2. Don't do it! The tour will involve stagging on and bone escorts up and down route tampa. If you're lucky, you'll get an EFP through the side of your wagon. That's the only action you're likely to see.

If you're above JNCO in rank, then you probably have no choice but for a pte/jnco get yourself attached to a regular batallion definitely.

Of course it depends on what you want out of it and if you're just after the money, BAS isn't a bad option.
  3. Cheers for the info, as I said was going on 9, but am looking to go wherever 6 Scots are going as they are our sister battalion............

Merlin 162 - 'told to volunteer' - I just love it

p.s. I think I, and most, understand what you mean.
  5. Auld,

As I was told not 3 weeks ago at Chilwell "I was a Volunteer". And there was me thinking I was a pressed man. My PSAO told me I was a green and asked what I thought. My view has always been that I would not offically volunteer but would go if the envelope arrived(which it did). Unfortunately I was sent home at the end of the Chilwell phase (having passed all the MATTs) due to a med problem. The CMO said that with treatment I could probably be remobilised in 6 months! So I would like to go with a similar unit ie 6 Scots as I understand they will be replacing Alamein Coy.....
  6. iO.....last time I Checked..you wanted to stay!!!!...and we were not chuffed to loose a good RSDC....so our loss there...

Bloody asebags as RTMC.....What does that f~cker know.....six months my Arrse....shees!

Your kits at Stirling for you....still boxed (No chance anyone getting near it)

sorry could not get you kit to you, but still no Transport in the Coy....this is changing very soon....

see you soon. You be good to 6 Scots..their no a bad wee outfit......Still not as good as us though :)

    Jim.
  7. Tartan,

Nice to hear from you matey, picked up the bhoys from over the sea tonight....All raring to go! Been working at the TAC for a whiley, but probably back to civviland next week. Give them hell!!!!
  8. Telic 4, A Coy RWF att PWRR in Al Amarah.

Read the book Dusty Warriors by Richard Holmes and then come back to me.
  9. Well done you. I would just like to say, as someone who was protected by the Stab, jokes at BAS during telic 4, that Messines company were well drilled, reliable escorts on convoy duties, AND got into a couple of scraps themselves. They were better at airport defence than the RAF regiment, and we trusted them with more convoy work than the marines.
    They did well.
  10. Likewise Cambrai Coy London Regt on Telic 3. Made 3 Sqn RAF Regt look very amateur.
  11. Come on guys that’s not hard is it AGC is a more aggressive force....

But I must say I had a Troop in an OP’s room camp Chindit (Telic 4) that was about 50/50 TA/REG and I treated them all the same and all bar one TA SNCO they acted the same...
  12. cheers mate I served with cambrai coy on that tour we had a number of road side bomb casualties in my platoon and across the company from that stint ,and our muckers in messines coy did equally well ,so next time one of those big timing hats fancies having a go please feel free to drop me a personal message and I'll put you straight
  13. Oh gawd. Is it me?

The envelope arrived because you said you'd go, not the other way 'round.
