A hard day at the office - Belfast 1977 - Another cracker from Eric Luke's archives (no, I am not him)..... Note the detail on the rifle butt.

I think there is an A&SH in there somewhere?
1 RGJ were in a different part of Belfast - Ardoyne/New Lodge. This lot are 1 GORDONS I think - they were the Hollywood Bn at the time, drafted in to support whoever was operating in the Falls/Divis etc. There were always a lot of atts/dets so no surprise an errant Argyll may have found himself as an IR to 1 GORDONS!

Of course, I may be wrong…

At first glance it looks like ours, but a bit squarish. It fits the Gleng mind. I came out just before NI, but I don't recognise the face.

Yep.

I was B Coy 1RGJ and we had the New Lodge and the docks area in 1977. We were based at Girdwood on the edge of the New Lodge area. I can’t remember now where the rest of the battalion were.

We did Divis in 1973. That’s where on top of Divis Tower, I learned that tall buildings are designed to sway in the wind.


Edit, the picture on my avatar was taken at Girdwood in 1977. :)
