Not yet. Because this time a woman, mother of one, died, things may change
Sad to see that France sees the death of a mother as more deserving of media outrage. Inevitable perhaps.

Not France. MSM looking for a story
We’ll surely one reflects the other? It’s a market driven business and France is no different to anywhere else in that respect.

Not a criticism by the way.

New Year's message of the French Army CEMAT (Chief of the Army General Staff):

All the varied units of the French Army are represented in the clip.

MSM reflects the views of a chosen few in Paris, mostly from the Left; France is still very centralized and the ideological impulses come from the capital

The tasks this regiment undertakes can make its troops particularly vulnerable.
“Je vous salue, les braves.”

The official website of the 2° régiment de hussards where the two soldiers KIA yesterday came from.

The 2°RH used to be a conventional recce unit equipped with AMX-10 RC but since the 2000s it has been converted into an Intel gathering unit. The basic combat element is the deep recce patrol (PRP) composed of 2 VBLs and 6 soldiers.

It is seen as a specialized but not a special unit. As a specialized unit it has access to some specific kit, thus its field teams had FNH SCAR L rifles, Glock pistols and HK 69 GL when other conventional units still used FAMAS and PAMAS pistols.

The 2°RH sports a brown beret with a hungarian knot under the cavalry insignia which is sometimes worn in a roundel or can also be embroidered. Brown was the regimental colour during Napoleonic times. It is the only regiment to wear that colour in the French forces.

I use France 24 , they are reporting on this.

Is this another Russian disinformation attack? Or at least partly genuine?
Difficult to find any primary sources.
This does not come across as really authentic or verifiable: "A health worker told Reuters that more than 20 people, including children, were killed in an air strike during a wedding party in central Mali on Sunday"

The FRA MoD had refuted the information. It has said that the bombing was preceded by a long target development phase

It looks like more and more Taliban TTPs are being imported to Mali. In AFG every other Op led to claims of a school/creche/hospital/wedding having been bombed....

That'll come as a shock to ouest-France and the majority of Breton media.

Our neighbours have no love for the boche du nord...

As some of us have gathered from our tours in dusty sh1tholes of the world, it is always a wedding party.
Never an RV of armed terrorists, a bus/lorry queue or a group of blokes with weapons in a pre-attack update.
Far more emotive a description for the consumption of the media and chattering classes of the world to discuss and rage at.

(If we could just ban weddings instead, would that perhaps stop all these bombings?)

SVBIED against an Op Barkhane VBCI yesterday.

According to the below article, the VBCI saw a vehicle approaching an element it was tasked to protect. It placed itself between the attacker and the rest of the detachment, taking the full force of the blast.

6 French WIA, no life threatening injury, more to follow

Mali: six soldats français blessés par un véhicule-suicide

Thanks @fantassin . The linked article has a video attached, which is an excellent summary in French (perhaps you can get a ropey Google subtitled translation) of the current French military involvement in the Sahel.

Thank you very much for the updates, I follow with interest, the situation appears to be escalating out there. I do hope a lid can be put on it.
