Oooh the Leaders debate...

Watching MSM this morning, the penny has dropped. These TV debates add nothing to the General Election campaign. They are there purely to fuel the media frenzy in the following days. All over the TV channels this morning, analysing it to death. There is no serious journalism or Political analysis going on here, it is muck racking, pure and simple.
This is the raw reality, that the media want to be part of the story and to an extent, promote its narrative and then talk about it to the exclusion of other viewpoints...... The internet has created a self selected bubble, which speaks for a small minority of the country and the rest of us have no input until election day.

The bulk of the populace largely feels excluded and I am strongly reminded of the 80s, where the media were heavily against thatcher and all her eccentricites, but come the big day a large section of the country voted against what they publically professed.

Sacked it after Corbyn was allowed to waffle on in his introductory address but Boris got interupted 3 times to end his.

Seems it continued throughout.
Only watched it to the first Ad break. FFS It was shite of the highest order. That said, in the first half I watched, as a boxing referee I would have scored it 10:8 to Corbyn. Any change in the second half because I've not watched it yet?

Is this the thread to include comments on the #BBCQT Specials where just the leaders if each party face the audience questions for 30 minutes. Got some views on last nights episode with Nigel Farage.

Thanks.

I didn't watch the main event, but by all accounts Johnson and Corbyn both failed to impress. This did not surprise me. They are a useless pair of dildos.

I did watch the Conference League candidates in the second part. No surprises there either, really, but I was impressed by the way Nigel Farage answered questions directly. He was bowled a couple of potential googlies and he went straight to his answer. Because he didn't dissemble, prevaricate or repeatedly give an answer to a question that was not being asked, the interviewer had nowhere to go but to the next question. I suppose that he knows that the Brexit Party are delivering a single clear message and are not trying desperately and unsuccessfully to be all things to all people.

I think I'd quite like to finger Nina Hossain.

I strongly suspect that Magic Grandpa will wipe the floor with Woeful Johnson.

This thought will of course annoy some.
Magic Grandpa was a strong on Brexit & the causes of it.
But still sitting on the wall over what to do, at least Boris says if he wins we are out on 31st January.

I watched S4C - Wales beat Hungary to qualify for the Euros next year.

In Welsh.

...which probably made a lot more sense than anything these two spouted last night. Did I miss anything?

Let me guess - the Tories thought BJ "won" the debate and the Reds thought JC "won"... Brexit... NHS... free unicorns... stutters from BJ... pity the poor and most vulnerable from JC...

Close enough?

Ian Dale is a non-tribal Tory.

As a lefty, i wish there were more like him; the American style partisanship crap is getting out of ha d.

I was glad to see TC Johnson and Jezza shaking hands, too, we need a bit of civility in politics.
Partisanship?? I don’t know what you are talking about you filthy commie.

I watched Professional Masterchef. TV debates add nothing to the process, and even the dumbest of mouth breathers (who probably wouldn't be watching anyway) wouldn't be swayed by the lies being spouted.

It will come down to who's lies are most convincing - as per every other GE.

Loved the audience reaction when Johnson spoke about trust. hahahahaha

And the result is:
If you're a Tory voter then Boris edged it.
If you're a Socialist voter then Corbyn edged it.

If you're undecided (and I can't see why there would be many of those left) you're just as confused as ever and have absolutely no idea which one to trust.

Oh, and both got laughed at. Bojo when he said he tells the truth and Corbyn when he said he's made his points clear.

Word is that the forgotten aka ignored majority of trad Labour Supporters who voted for Leave ...and who also hate JC, will not care what either of these clowns say or do but support whoever stops or slows down free movement of low skilled EU chancers via a vote for Brexit.

Canadian reports quoted Magic Grandpa asserting Labour are not anti-semites met with a laugh all round. BJ mumbled into his armpits as per usual and eventually won out. Maybe from tiredness on part of the interrogators.

No-one sentient would claim victory for anyone from last night's shambles though, if pushed, in terms of advantage one would probably give it to Boris in a Battle of Jutland sort of way, given that he's ahead in the polls and Grandpa needed to make some headway.

Etchingham was utterly dire and the format seemed specifically designed to bore.

Half the 'debate' was Etchingham wittering on about there not being any time left. Delete her 'contributions' and nonsense about what they'd buy each other for Christmas and there might have been time to actually ask some pertinent questions.
