Need a recommendation for a B&B for a night for my lad in October, to meet me coming off the overnight ferry in the morning at 0900 before heading off to Jockland stalking.
I will have several shotguns and rifles with, plus ammo - he will be a defenseless Southerner at the mercy of 32/16 year old mother/daughter combos......any tips?

I suggested he walk into a bar in the docks and ask why they are called "monkey hangers" loudly, it'll make a man of him.... (if they find the body)

Given that "Monkey Hangers" come from Hartlepool, they'll probably just ignore him.

Ensure that he's stripped to the waist, especially if temperatures are due to dip to sub-zero. You don't want him to be thought of as a Southern Poof do you?

  3. Find your way to the Bigg Market, go in any bar, drink a pint then put the glass on the bar upside down.

The rest of the night would be interesting, whatever you can remember of it!

  4. re monkey hangers.i wouldn't like to walk from hartlepool to the toon.

  5. try and make it on a toon match day.if you're lucky and the cnuts get beat, you may witness the demolition of the bigg market.

Nah he just needs to spend £50 on a local football shirt in Sid James's next door, then when it comes to settling up, stand close enough to the barcode reader and it'll ring up £5.

The Raby on Shields Road has an excellent reputation among tourists.

  9. Newcastles football shirt always reminds me of a Matalan teenage boys quilt from the 80's

The whole of the NE is the same place to me - one that should be transited through quickly.

Thanks for all the advice, he just needs to get a phrase book now and he'll be fine......
