One for Jarrod?

Gen question but thought I'd better post it in the Naafi:

Intending to search for Vaughan Williams in response to an arty farty music thread, I was immediately directed to "advanced search" which gave a list of forums to search, followed by a tick box thingy which said "search child forums as well".

After supressing a snigger, I wondered that the hell it meant. :omfg:

What do you want to know about old Ralph then?

Ask away, I know loads about him me...

Knob.

I'll spare you the lecture about gaying not being the same as liking children and move straight to child forums.

Think of child forums as “sub-forums” of a parent forum and are recursive in structure.

For example, you can instruct the Search feature to search the Car Rental Programs/Partners forum. If you select “Also search in child forums”, you are also instructing the search to include the Avis, National, Hertz, Budget, etc. forums (which are all child forums of the Car Rental Programs/Partners forum), as well as any forums that are child forums of Avis, National, Hertz, Budget, etc.

You also have the option to turn off this feature and manually select only the forums you wish to search.

Or she could just be referring to Jarrod as he is the King of Search. Just a thought on an innocent post that's been (possibly) read wrong.

Why the dislike? As I said, I don't know what it means.

Checking to see if I'd already posted the story about my mother's choir and VW, as I tend to ramble and repeat myself these days.

(By the way, the reference to Jarrod was because of his expertise with the search function, not because of his penchant for pretty young boys ;-) )

Good point.

If that's the case, then I apologise.

I thought it was one of the ******** jokes we see here from time to time and bit.

******* hell, you need to slow down. I know Jarrod personally, and I'm quite aware that being gay does not make anyone a paedo!!!

I'd never heard of "child forums" as explained by you, so thank you for enlightening me.

I still think it's a very odd term to use though - and open to misinterpretation by certain sectors of the community :p

You're right. I thought the same when I first saw it - particularly as it was on a pirate porn site.

Cant imagine for an instant that King J has a penchant for boys. He is indeed the master of the search function though. I like Jarrod.

As in, 'How d'ye fancy the length of MY gangplank, wench?'

Or have I got the wrong end of the argument?

I took tea with Ursula on several occasions some 20 years ago, a charming old bird with a twinkle in her eye, some forthright views and fund of wonderful stories: she clearly adored 'Raif' and never remarried after he died.

Did some stuff at Charterhouse some years back for the head of music who is an old mate.
He showed me some of VW's original scores and it was interesting to read some of VW's reports upon his pupils.

VW and Sibelius do it for me, there are many others but these two (who were friends) are the boss writers IMHO.

Round the corner from UV-W's flat was/is Cecil Sharp House - home of the EFDSS - with its amazing library & archive.
