One Brain Cell to Spot a Celebrity

It takes just one brain cell to recognise a ‘Celebrity’, according to new research into how the mind recalls a familiar face. Faces of stars each stimulate a single nerve cell in the brain that seems to recognise the face alone. The findings suggest that individual brain cells, rather that acting as a network, are like miniature computers in their own right.
