On Killing

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. On Killing : The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society

Has anyone read this book? Thoughts? Opinions?
  2. Read it; found it very interesting; it certainly explained a lot about why we train the way that we do, and exactly how we should do things post-operations.

While it's written by an American, an awful lot of his source material is British; seems to think we go about things sensibly.......

He does have a few "no sh*t, Sherlock" points to make about violence on TV / video games, mind you.
  3. I found it extremely interesting and well-written as well. There were some parts that I think were unnecessary.

I'm more a historian with only "theoretical" if you will, so I wanted to know what you who have 'been there, done that' think.

    Many thanks =)
