Sad thread but here goes anyway. On producing my ID card today the MGS wallah commented that my ID card must be the oldest one still in use. It was issued in March 1994. Anyone got an older one?

Easy: Have just been given my MOD90 from 18 JAN 90.

Typed up.

Damn I was a handsome chap ;)

P.S. BA: I think it should have been confiscated. The new ones have more info on them, including an expiry date.

May 1981 and Feb 1991 (old style).Nobody ever asked me for them back (I'm still as ugly as ever) Present one (October 95) shows my hair colour before the winter set in and I changed colour to blend in with the landscape.Between 1977 and 1981 I had "a certificate in lieu" that allowed me to deploy to FRG.

Dammit, if it wasn't for that small matter of a car fire* I'd not be using a MOD 90 with Jun 94 printed on it. I look nothing like the picture anymore, especially as I have chosen to have my hair coloured 'arctic badger'

*I was in the car when it caught fire and strangely enough I decided to get out pretty sharpish, leaving my jacket and MOD 90 behind.

My new style MOD 90 says 18 Aug 93. Obviously its the date of the photo not the card (my number changed in Dec 95).

I know its not an MoD 90, but I recently saw my father's old RAF 1250 dated 1938. In those days it contained details of postings and promotions, all entered in pencil. I still have a 1250 from around 1984, forgot to hand it in on discharge. My 1250 issued to me as a reservist was dated Jun 1994.

242..., I think that goes farther back than the '80s mate. Try DPM combats (without the DPM), SLR's, 57 pattern webbing was considered Gucci, gaters, hobnail boots, pint of mild for 3d down't NAAFI, compulsory smoking, tax free Austin's, Officer's with surnames longer than the name's of the counties their father's owned, when Cyrpus wasn't considered a 'sunshine' tour, listening t' 'Family Favourites' on't wireless, postings to places we don't own anymore, thin Elvis.......try....late 60's/early '70's, I reckon.
