Old Soldier gets a Birthday surprise from the Welsh Guards

#4
Bloody Wallaby's were knicking good players from overseas even then!!

During the war, his talents on the rugby field were sought by a touring Australian forces side. "They were due to play Scotland at Murrayfield and the Aussies were short of a hooker," he recalled. "I got a call from one of their boys who had seen me play in a forces game and before you knew it I was on the train to London to meet with the team.

Happy birthday Taff.

Ah, what a marvellous gesture by the Welsh Guards. Sort of heart-warming at this time of year. Well done them and well done Erich. May you live forever!

I'd be bloody surprised if they visited me on my birthday.

I was in the Grenadiers!

Saw it on the local Welsh news, a good happy story for a change.

Erich? Erich Honecker perhaps?? This thread is about former Welsh Guardsman, Eric Antwerp Jones.

If a load of matelots rock up uninvited to my 100th birthday party, I'll not be best pleased.

The ******* will just drink all my booze, trash the place, steal something just for the hell of it and try and shag my great grand daughters.
