Old military sayings????

  1. I was reading a thread regarding sayings that we still use long past leaving the forces i.e squared away etc.
    So my question is where did all these sayings start and heres 1 to start with:

    Where did the saying Dobhi dust origionate?

    Apoligies if this has been done before
     
  2. Dhobi is the Indian saying for washing.
    Comes from the old colonial days.
     
  3. Try Arrse/Wiki - useful for most stuff like this, but the term as with many of the British Army ones can trace it's roots back to the days of the Raj and our time in India.
