The heart of the site is the forum area, including:
Am I mssing something here?
No you aren't.
Don't know what Weatherman's post was about so it was deleted.
My post was about 61 years ago today , Ike made a decision. The rest is history.
Heres raising a glass to those who went and did their bit 61 yrs ago tonight/tommorrow and never again saw the shores of England again, and also raising a glass for those who returned.
We will remember them.
61 years ago, the longest night before the longest day that changed Europe.
It's OK PTP.
Has anyone ever read Eisenhowers 'failure' note? It gives me the shivers.
I'll see if I can get the text.
One better! A scan of the original note...
In Case of Failure Message.
oooh oooh , please sir, I know this one...Ike is saying "bon voyage" to the 101st at RAF Greenham Common in the picture. He then went to The Chequers in Newbury and reportedly asked for his hip-flask to be re-filled. Hmmm..nice to know even the great and good have a bit of shilling-half-a-crown trouble at such times...
They don't make them like Ike anymore in the US.
Now we get the likes of Dubya and Rummy.
And raising a glass tonight , as 61 years ago at this time , we had moved off the beaches and inland.
