Oh, the humanity! Owen Jones and stuff . . .

It's why I wonder about Rhodes supporters resisting discussion of his possible homosexuality... The loonies would end up erecting more statues than they tore down...
You can't erect statues anymore, that's phallocentric and upsets the hairy sensible shoe wearing lesbians

It must be that time Jones has a new book coming out.

This Land, dull title.

We live in an age of upheaval. The global crisis of Covid-19 has laid bare the deep social and economic inequalities which were the toxic legacy of austerity. These revolutionary times are an opportunity for a radical rethink of Britain as we know it, as the politically impossible suddenly becomes imaginable.

And yet, the Left's last attempt to upend the established order and transform millions of lives came to a crashing halt on 12th December 2019, when Jeremy Corbyn led the Labour party to its worst electoral defeat since 1935. In This Land, Owen Jones provides an insider's honest and unflinching appraisal of a movement: how it promised to change everything, why it went so badly wrong, where this failure leaves its values and ideas, and where the Left goes next in the new world we find ourselves in.

He takes us on a compelling, page-turning journey through a tumultuous decade in British politics, gaining unprecedented access to key figures across the political spectrum. It is a tale of high hopes and hubris, dysfunction and disillusionment. There is, Jones urges, no future for any progressive project that does not face up to and learn from its errors. We have the opportunity to build a fairer country and a more equal world, but if our time is to come, then we must learn from our past.

I wonder if it will address the issue that Corbyn was/is and always will be a no mark terrorist loving, raving antisemitic duffer of the highest order who has been systematically wrong on every topic since the year dot.

Maybe I should right a book, Corbyn my part in his downfall. The Hoon.

Why should I listen a privileged white bloke?

Aren't I supposed to be hating him or something? Shouldn't his book be banned?

If he’s got a book coming out expect him to engineer some incident in the very near future to get some TV time.

I think there's slightly more chance of me reading a book by Bugsy than one by Jones!

but if our time is to come, then we must learn from our past.
Don't tell me.. More strongly socialist policies, more distinctly left wing leadership, more control over the MP's by the party committees, a move away from old fashioned and irrelevant values, a greater expression of multi-cultural, diverse, and green principles, etc etc etc.... the path to the sunlit uplands is clear and it is red brothers, sisters, bristers, sothers, and non binary comrades.. red red red...

did I miss anything?

Derek Hatton, Len McLuskey and the SWP...

If his writing style is anything like his speaking style, I’ll give it a miss, thank you.
Compelling page turner my arse. More like emergency toilet paper!

Meh. Don't need to read it. Jonathan Pie has already nailed it. Read a book by Owen Jones versus a 4.26 video? Not even a question that needs asking...

Jones is a combination of Hetrophobic, Causcsiophbic and Judeo-christiophobic, little piece of porcine effluent. His predjudices confuse him greatly.

That second vid was quite funny , especially the punch up around the ambulance .
Reminded me of the time when driving along a fairly main road in E London, (Ilford lane if anybody knows it)
Was two cars behind an emergency ambulance when it suddenly stopped , the driver ran round the back of the ambulance onto the pavement and ran up behind some bloke walking along, then kicked him up the arrse as hard as he could .
Got back into the ambulance and drove off leaving the bloke in a crumpled heap on the pavement .
Would have loved to find out what that was all about . :-D
