Will the tapes confirm what we already know about Adams and McGuiness?
Ed Moloney, the journo who recorded them, has said that what is on the tapes could lead to a victims lawsuit against Adams.

He also said there is enough there to damage the political process.

What has been released from the tapes so far (Brendan Hughes and Delours Price interviews) confirm that Adams was involved with the 'unit' that killed Jean McConville and others among the dissapeared.

That they were both touts who caused the deaths of many 'volunteers' by betraying them to the Brits?

I dunno about you but if I were a heavily tooled-up buoyo, I'd be very angry to find that out. Semtex angry.

Stakeknife outed as ex boss of the nutting squad. He is now in retirement in Italy, his name escapes me.

The bit I'm looking forward to is all the loyalist paramilitarys talking about what they've done during PIRAs armed struggle.

Doubt if there is anything that PSNI don't know already and I doubt we would get to hear them anyway. That may be part of the price of peace.

STEAK KNIFE = Scapotice ?
Ed Moloney is a quality operator. The tapes will be interesting...
And if you think so, then it's going to be fun .... ;-)

Fred Scappa.... fuc... fuc..fuc.... ing.....tichi. Get my fuc.....fuc...fuc...ing name right, ye fuc.. fuc...fuc... ing peelers.

I shouldn't make a cheap joke considering his list of crimes, but I thought it was 'knitting squad' hence those awful wolly balaclavas they wore.

Knowing was never the issue, getting someone to testify was the problem.

Scappatcci was /is a nasty piece of work & it was a suprise when he was revealed as steak-knife. I can almost imagine the panic when the provo leadership found out - always makes me smile!! Top man of internal security is a tout - proper result!!
Don't know if these old tapes will prove anything - a bit of political squirming for a few days on Adams part at worst.
Would be quite suprised if he has actually got his hands mucky during the 70's. Say what you want about him, but being stupid is something you could never say he was.

It's history. What's done is done. We all know Adams/Mcguinness and co were informers/touts, total money slags betraying the very people and movement they gobbed off so elequently about. I rest easy in my pit, doubt they do.

They'll not see old bones,

Oh well, never mind.

He carried a provo scum's coffin... this 'honour' was not handed out to fellow 'volunteers' for good attendance at bars or the most money collected with a tin.

I take your point Chocolate. I was just trying to point out that this **** is one of the clever ones & much more dangerous than one of the trigger happy boneheads that he delegated.

Without question. But early on he must have had some blood on his hands. Likewise promotion amongst provos was not based on renditions of Irish Rover or who made the best poitin.
