Offshore Patrol Vessels

Question for the clever people such as @alfred_the_great, @A2_Matelot, @Guns....

Could an additional OPV be used to pick up some of the UK based tasking done by the FRE or TAPS (yes I know - but with mods and a satellite link). Not sure about TAPS, but FRE seems to be extra tasking for a ship in between deployments, upkeep, BOST, etc - and potentially damaging to morale.

I was thinking of a dedicated one for non Fish tasks.

Incidentally - I have to (well alright I want to) write an e-mail to a SO2. I have no idea of this Officer's name or gender. Is 'Sir/Ma'am' an acceptable form of address? My CoC have asked to be copied, and getting it wrong risks a keel hauling....

Call in advance to find out?

I'd check that one out if I were you, there could be some new new E&D gender natural term we have to use these days.

Debrett’s states that ‘Dude’ is the correct salutation under such circumstances.

Would that be "Dear Dude," or "Yo Dude,"?
Yo...obviously...unless it was Demi-official in which case just ‘Dude’ would suffice.

Thanks Dude. But they are RN - should I used Shipmate instead? How about Shippers?

I was going to say if I was serving in an OPV I would not have to worry about such triviality, but no. I would still have to worry about getting a crappy report from the unit CoC for not turning up of an evening, and not doing unit unit duties.

Are you being AGAI'd then?

Alright smart arrse, what's the Naval equivalent of an AGAI?
Keel hauling.

In any case, I am not in trouble, I am simply making a suggestion and putting my name forward to help with something. #WholeForceConcept #AbbramsDoctrine
