Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Am after a new set of trainers for when normal running trainers aren't man enough but when cross country spikes are just uncalled for.

Any ideas? Do not really want to spend the earth either.

  2. Why don't you try a forum dedicated to running such as runnersworld? There are also lots of links to online sports shops on there as well which usually have clearance sections of last years stock.

  3. As mentioned get onto a sites and forums such as http://www.runnersworld.co.uk, http://www.theomm.com or something like http://www.fellrunner.org.uk for more specific advice.

I have found a good place to order kit from is http://www.peteblandsports.co.uk and if you drop them a mail they are pretty helpful.

Common recommendations for off road runners are :
    Salomon Speed Cross 2
Mizuno Wave Harrier 2 (Wider fit than Salomons)
Inov8 Roclites and Mudclaws (Slightly wider than Salomons but narrower than Mizunos)

  4. Yeah can recommend inov8 and mizuno used them both, liked both. Perfect really for mixing it up from hillside to road to fields.....maybe thats what the little shitbags round here are wearing because the coppers never seem to catch the *******.....but yeah both goods get em

PS and if you can try and get your feet and running posture assessed at a decent shop Ive used Northern Running in the past the bloke in there seemed to know his onions like

  5. Went with Mizuno Wave Ascend 3. Got really good reviews as a hybrid road/trail shoe.

Really good so far - good grip, lightweight but with good shock absorbtion.
