Odins Pig

Sorry to be a bit of a bore; however can anyone tell me the name of Odin's Pig. Not sure whether this ought to be in "Current Affairs" however there doesn't seem to be a "Farmyard" Section.....

Good pub quiz question.

I know Bladdud had a pig.

Mind you, Ahem, I've had a few myself over the years! But you'll not get their names.....infact, I'm not sure I know most of them myself.

Nope, no trick question, it's just I am writing a paper and wanted to make a reference to Odin's Pig, no....dont ask what the paper was about.

Although did you know his wife was in fact called Frigg.....

What is it with those crazy Vikings? When the rest of us were inventing our mythical creatures, we dreamt up Dragons, Pegasi and Hydra. What do they come up with to strike terror into their children, and enthrall listeners sitting round the campfire?

A PIG! FFS.

Frigg the Pig!

You couldn't make it up - sounds like something Rebecca Loos might get involved with.......

True Sleeper, reminds me of some saying or other though ..... "Arguing with an infantryman is like wrestling with a pig; you both get muddy, but the pig enjoys it."

Talking about Frigging a pig, didn't some minor celeb have to do that on a reality show? Must have been on the Independant Network, 'cos I'm sure Aunty woudn't have shown that...

Must dash the lights come on in the bosses office.....and he wants his PC back

Hey, S_S!

You ever been on the wrong end of one of those beasties?

There's nothing mythical about a 300lb Landrace boar who has it mind to make a meal of you; frightening just ain't in it, believe me!

When I was about 8 yrs old I was 'treed' by one of these b*ggers for about two hours. Eventually my old Dad came to the rescue, along with a couple of lads from the farm. Even then this b*stard kept charging them!

I reckon old Odin knew a thing or two; mythical dragons, hydrae and winged horses can't hold a candle to the real thing. If you want a beastie with pure meanness and single-mindedness, go for the pig every time!

oldadam. It makes me wonder what you were trying to do to the pig which upset it so much.

 Nothing; honest!

The b*gger had broken out of its pen and I thought that I'd be dad's little helper and shoo it back in again!

The pig had other ideas; me as a handy snack, probably!

I just made the mistake of thinking it was as friendly as the old Wessex Saddlebacks that we had before the old man switched over to Landrace.

I think Landrace were some sort of hybrid from Denmark, so maybe that accounts for Odin having a view on pigs that was different to Anglo-Saxon minor deities. The Landrace were bred to provide superior bacon and pork cuts in a shorter time; seems like their temper was shorter too! 8O

I could be way off track here but ...

Nice try Dogsandmonsters, but SS Penal Battalions didn't have access to the internet.
