**** me, youre the life and soul of the party aint you? Are you troppers retarded bastard love child?

Nothing I said is sensitive, I and every squaddie that has had the pleasure of this convoy arriving on there ground could have said the same thing. Just because the convoy 'could' contain something nuclear does not mean the operation is Top Secret. If anyone sees the convoy take a look out for the 'followers'. The happy band of nutcases, spotters and other weirdo's that follow it along the highways and byways.

Yep fair dos but most squaddies know when to say something and when not to. Using the excuse 'well its on the internet' aint exactly in the military spirit. We all see stuff but unless your life is a total vacuum, you dont need to brag about it...

Anyway I perspire to be one of the fat coppers sat in the back of a bread delivery van waiting for the CND to chuck paint at me....I wanna be the copper that says 'go on Marines I don't get paid enough'.......Got to be on a winner on that job, money for old rope.

Very true. AWE was weird in the fact that I would only know when kit was on the move when I saw the convoy gearing up, and the extra guys around the place. The CND/spotters/nothing better to doers always knew when before I did, and were often parked up in Tadley, and Burghfield Common waiting the move.

Whatever flicks your switch I suppose.

Haha very true! Most of those plods are failed police dogs

as a Civie working in some bits of HMG's more murkey bits I was always surprised how lax security was (this was 20 years ago). The best security was at Aldermaston where "mature ladies" were employed to escort contractors to and from work areas as well as staying near by. One lovely lady kintted two of my lads sweaters during a long job. They never missed a trick either.

I was a contractor. Never escorted anywhere, actually, that's a lie. One building in Burghfield had us escorted. I assume they weren't security cleared?

Nope not cleared and I don't remember being cleared. Actually we were doing something that we couldn't tell the watchers about. Not sneaky stuff but caused a bit of a panic in the 80's and 90's. Thinking on some of the strictest security was at BT substations in remote areas. Still wonder what that was all about.

Whilst in the US I saw a similar thing. All the crews dressed in civies, mainly stetsons, check shirts, jeans and cowboy boots, all toting a wide variety of weapons. The main difference was there vehicles were all civilianised (if there is such a word)

How SLOW is that convoy??? The OP saw it "Travelling down A34 (Southbound), approx 1430" yesterday, and your video shows it on the M74 in January of last year. FIFTEEN MONTHS?!?!? Holy Mother of Kazan!

It would be faster using the outrage bus. I have the keys if anyone else wants to drive.

;o)
