Odd Convoy

A2 Matelot, PEV not PPVs (Protected Escort Vehicle) and they run day or night, running during night hours only would cost too much in MoD SEG overtime!

baldricksdad, if you were in a position to give a 100% confirmation, maybe some of your gen is still sensitive? Fair do's some of the info can be found on Nukewatch etc but if you were in a position from the inside, best keep it that way ;-)

whatnow, thats called 'the wrecker'

Smudge. Whos manning the gate now youve gone?

Is their any reason these convoys are so visable? Verification, visual tracking? I would have thought it would be safer to run them in psudo M+S trucks with a "national express" coach or two trailing.

Who is to say they don't?

I would imagine M and S do not want CND chucking paint bombs at their wagons or lying down in the road in front of them. I also reckon hundreds of tins of armoured wagons and shed loads of armed police havea decent deteerent effect?

Although 'It's not just Armageddon, this is Marks and Spencer Armageddon' would be a good slogan on the side of the vehicles.

The yanks run under disguise (they have far longer distances to travel) we don't because a) any disguised truck coming out of Burghfield or Aldermaston would immediately get pinged as being a load carrier and b) we have 20+ bootnecks as a deterrent! (oh and lots of fat copper too)

(The yanks however have 'lost' a few nukes so who has a more robust system?.....)

white fleet, has, and does get more use than you would belive. a '' stop over'' point ''was'' at a at a trg camp that most stabs frequent, taps nose,,,, a fire drill was held there many moons ago that didnt go all to well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would that be for 'training' at the 'training camp' using 'training vehicles'.....

Also little need for the average 87 exclamation marks you tend to use, I think it was Sir T Pratchett who had as a footnote stating the use of more than 3 shows a disturbed mind...or somesuch
