This thread re-started the O&B Forum just one year ago.

I feel that we should all raise a glass (or feeding tube) to the anniversary.

Coffin dodging for another year :)

Now in my day harrumph! harrumph!........................SLRs, Small Metal Guns, puttees..........harrumph... youngsters don't know how easy they have things...........harrumph!!

No doubt the young whipper-snappers will be along complaining again soon.

SLRs, you say? Now the Cold War, that was the war to end 'em all. Really we deserve a medal for that, you know. Active Edge and putting up with the Cousins on Reforger. M-e-e-e-e-eh.

Ohhhh. No more medals please.
The ones I have already are making me walk with a bent back.
Lets see......I got the GSM...and ..er....no. Thats it.
But it must be bloody heavy cos I can hardly walk now. :-(

Ooh ar. Quick train. What were all those little signs dotted around with "Pound up" and "Pound down" on them. I used to collect them as the sticks they were on made lovely kindling.

Nig, it were QUICK TRAIN when I were in! :)
Trains were slow when I was in. Must have cost me days of leave getting back to barracks (but there was plenty of drinking time on the train). Then we got back from Cyprus and they had them newfangled Inter City 125s.

May I enquire as to the joining criteria for this noble Troop?

Are any of the following necessary for becoming a member of the O&B, according to "Old Gitness", i.e

1) Stage 1: Slight beer-gut, and a total lack of concern for anything that would involve getting off the sofa

2) Stage 2: Having to visit some Specialist for various ailments on a fortnightly basis

3) Stage 3: The continual wearing of knitted cardies with tortoise-shell buttons, even at 25 deg cel.

4) Stage 4: Having seperate bedrooms cos the missus cant stand you coughing*, passing wind*, reading*, getting out of bed every 30 mins for a piss* (or pissing in the bed)

5) Stage 5: Owning a colostomy-bag, oxygen-tent, iron-lung, Go-go-gadget telescopic arm etc.

6) Stage 6: The highlight of your week is reading the Gadgets catalogue and choosing a suction-fitted foot-rest for lacing your shoes

Just wondering if I qualify like

*delete as appropriate
