Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I wonder if we did go back to the bad old days if the murals would be modernised with a "banksy" twist.
  2. Ta!
I was only in NI for a long weekend, so did not get to see much of the... artwork.

There was a 'community activist' on the radio the other night explaining the inexplicable rise in young people joining DRs (or whatever they are referred to this week). His theory was that the young people were suffering from Conflict Deficit and more money was needed to ensure that conditions in front line areas didn't worsen.

Community Activisim. Arrested for causing trouble. We have peace walls which could do with a lick of paint.
    But Conflict Deficit that's blinder
  4. Some of the murals going up are very good, just they don't wear balaclava's anymore and usually have a 36th Ulster twist or tell the
    story of George Best,Titanic etc.

Titanic Mural Titanic - Titanic wall mural, Dee street

UFF Mural 'UFF' Wall Mural, Tullycarnet, Dundonald, Belfast | Flickr - Photo Sharing! now replaced with this mural

Too replace a Loyalist mural with one of a Catholic, I think tells the times have changed.

App the guy who did that one was different from the usual mural artist. The artist of choice was great at paramilitary stuff but couldn't do faces (except woolly ones)
  6. Too be honest, the UDA never could do murals properly, it was always UVF murals that had the better art work. has to be the best mural in Northern Ireland in my opinion.
  7. They will get what they want eventually, as will the islamists in this country. Unless that is if a govt chooses to recognise that terror is not entitled to human rights and a life sentence means life. The blair govt gave in to their demands, this is the consequence.
  8. I could just see Sarah Beeny advising home-owners:

'You'll just have to paint-over that awful mural if you really want to sell your house"

Gratuitous (but unnecessary) picture of Sarah that gives me a stiffie
