Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. checked the search function, which came up with this

but doesnt give me a concreate answer to what I want to know.

    The question is thus:

For those of us who are currently on the 30 year pension scheme for the police/fire service and those on the 22 year AF scheme, do these changes mean that you still "retire" at 30/22 years service but the money doesnt pay out until 60? Or are they expecting an extra 10 years for Police/Fire and 20 extra years from the AF?

I.E for myself I have a year and a half as a staff nurse, and 13 as a police officer and started paying in at 20, will I still retire(albeit accruing on the new career average scheme and paying 15%) at 50 but not see the money until 60?
