Preaching to the converted here, Murrayfield 2020, wife's first England away game at rugby, something she'd taken to in the time she's been with me, never wants to go to Murrayfield again.
We were at the same game mate, I didn't tag you because I know your missus had it rough from the scum.

That's really depressing to hear. The many 6 nations games I've been to at Murray field and sat amongst opposing fans and had a great day of it. Singing along to the other national anthems (Welsh was a laugh) and having a genuinely good time, even going for drinks after around Edinburgh with the lads and lasses that didn't know their way around.
I hate what Scotland has become under these utter scumbags. I never thought I'd ever be so ashamed of my country folk. Luckily there's still enough of us to stop their bid of separation. I won't call it independence any more, because its not.

He's bound to have owned a few slaves as well. Might as well chuck his statue in the Clyde and be done with it.

Don't get me wrong, outside of the ground was great. we walked into one of the pubs on the Friday night, Guvnor noticed I was English (probably the cockney accent), asked if I was up for the match, replied I was, he asked if I wanted a small bet on the game, answered in the affirmative, bet on. Returned on the Saturday night, Mein Host duly paid up, a large Balwhinnie 12yo, pub was full of England fans, we found space at one of the tables and the singing of rugby songs of all nations started up, next thing we know, our table has a couple of jugs of beer from the Guvnor. It was inside the stadium area that it was vicious, it started when the England bus showed up, Scottish fans on the gangway over the area, throwing beer, cans and bottles down on the team, once seated, we had around half dozen Scottish fans sitting right behind us shouting "kill the English bastards" every 5 minutes.

What strong resistance? All we see is you accepting it. Where are the protests? Why is nobody speaking out?
It's not as simple as that. This post is in defence of my fellow Scots, not the gnats.
Before they were given 'the wee hoose, the gnats only had one or two seats in the HoC. One exception was in the early 80s(?) when they managed eleven. They were anti English and anti Royalty. Once they had their own 'parliament,' the committee told them to tone down the Republican issue, as the Royal family were popular up by. No such steps were taken to curtail the feelings against the English. Old tactic, unite against a 'common enemy.'

Look at how long it's taken the Tories to break the Labour stranglehold in the north of England. Thanks to the U turn, brought about bliar, the Scots kicked Labour out pretty damn quick. I personally have always called them new Tory, not new Labour. We Scots can tend to veer towards a more socialist view with our politics. They still haven't forgiven the Tories for Maggie. Before you say that was back in the eighties, think about this. (Some are still arguing/fighting about The Battle of The Boyne and The Glencoe massacre, which happened in 1690 and 1692 respectively! Maggie was only a few minutes ago.) Unfortunately, that left the gnats to fill the vacuum created by the demise of Labour.

Have a look at the state of the people who are supposed to be the upholders of law and order in Scotland, and I'm not talking about Police Scotland. At the very top of the food chain no less. Have a wee shufty at the Ranger's fiasco. After it dragging out for TEN years, the Ranger's directors were completely exonerated. The conclusion reached was, and I quote, "A malicious and wilful prosecution without a shred of evidence." Who started this? No less a person than the Lord Advocate himself, chust the highest office in the Scotland! It's cost the taxpayer £20million so far, and could reach over 100 mill. Who appointed those two clowns? The first LA started it and the next one carried on, the gnats I can't remember what this next one was about, something about money(?) going adrift, and the current LA had to appear before a committee from the wee hoose. The first thing he did was remind them who he was, with regards to his position! FFS he's practically threatening the representatives of the people! This, even although the gnats were well represented on the board. Back to the directors and a question they may pursue. Why, given the result in their favour, 'malicious...without a shred of evidence' why was it not stopped by the police, or the procurator fiscal's office, before it reached the LA?! When my fellow Scots, who live there, post about the shenanigans going on there, they aren't conspiracy loons. This is happening now in the UK!

What can be done to counter them? If HoC steps in, it would have to do so, very carefully. The gnats would seize on any interference as proof of the "English bully." Why aren't they voted out, which would be by and far the best way? Quite simply, fear. Although I haven't experienced it myself, a rough Weegie accent can be useful at times ;), I have been told on my many visits from people I know, this happened before during and after 2014. Go to the Police? See my previous paragraph.

All of this is in the public domain. Calling @Auld-Yin @Dafty duck. I'm not sure if it was one of you who put the link up about wee nippy and the Lord Advocate being 'questioned.' It may even be on this thread. I believe I read about the Rangers fiasco in the 'Ghost, Sunday Post. The tales I've heard I can't verify, hearsay, but I have no doubt of their truth. You'll have believe me, or not.

I'd like The English amongst you to read my post, and think about it. Before they had the wee hoose, we faced down our foes together. We took the pish out of each other, but when the brown stuff hit the fan, we stood fast, together. You, English, have the largest population in our fair land. I've wavered myself on if I wish Scotland to remain, because I too am pissed off with the hatred the gnats have caused. But deep down I'd hate for us not to be standing together for another 300 years.

I don't disagree, and I am not pro independence. If there was a vote tomorrow, in all honesty I would vote Scotland to stay. However, as a country, I think England is sick of the continual bile sent our way. We cannot affect Scotland's politics, only the Scots can do that. People up there need to do something about it and soon before it becomes too late.

I'm inclined to agree with you with the caveat that for as long as I can remember anyone from Scotland speaking about Scottish matters on the news has pretty much always been Scottish themselves.

I've always had the feeling, hopefully mistaken, that being English makes working in Scotland that little bit harder. Not so much being Scottish in England.

Cue posts from Scottish readers starting,

Burn mysogynist? A Guardian article by John Dugdale dated 24/1/18 is amusing where one of Burns’s letters is quoted. In this 1788 correspondence he brags to his friend on how he had slipped Jean Armour a healthy portion. He wrote he had given her a “thundering scalade that electrified the very marrow of her bones”, and said he “fucked her till she rejoiced”.

The one thing that Burns wasn't, was a misogynist. He loved women and described his passion for them in great detail. A shggr of his time.

^@eyehave responded more eloquently than I could.

Would that be a group of second rate, self published female poets who will never achieve a fraction of the success he has?

Bit like woke female comics, ban everything so no one is funny and they can fit in nicely.

Must have been AY. Not been on the last few weeks. Been deciding on a move to Australia, SWMBO got offered a job with a 40% pay bump. GTFO out of Scotland is very, very tempting.

Australia wouldn’t be my first choice but if I was you I’d have already packed my bags to get out of Scotland before it’s sinks further down the pan in the eternal race to the bottom the SNP are intent on inflicting on everyone.
