It's not as simple as that. This post is in defence of my fellow Scots, not the gnats.
Before they were given 'the wee hoose, the gnats only had one or two seats in the HoC. One exception was in the early 80s(?) when they managed eleven. They were anti English and anti Royalty. Once they had their own 'parliament,' the committee told them to tone down the Republican issue, as the Royal family were popular up by. No such steps were taken to curtail the feelings against the English. Old tactic, unite against a 'common enemy.'
Look at how long it's taken the Tories to break the Labour stranglehold in the north of England. Thanks to the U turn, brought about bliar, the Scots kicked Labour out pretty damn quick. I personally have always called them new Tory, not new Labour. We Scots can tend to veer towards a more socialist view with our politics. They still haven't forgiven the Tories for Maggie. Before you say that was back in the eighties, think about this. (Some are still arguing/fighting about The Battle of The Boyne and The Glencoe massacre, which happened in 1690 and 1692 respectively! Maggie was only a few minutes ago.) Unfortunately, that left the gnats to fill the vacuum created by the demise of Labour.
Have a look at the state of the people who are supposed to be the upholders of law and order in Scotland, and I'm not talking about Police Scotland. At the very top of the food chain no less. Have a wee shufty at the Ranger's fiasco. After it dragging out for TEN years, the Ranger's directors were completely exonerated. The conclusion reached was, and I quote, "A malicious and wilful prosecution without a shred of evidence." Who started this? No less a person than the Lord Advocate himself, chust the highest office in the Scotland! It's cost the taxpayer £20million so far, and could reach over 100 mill. Who appointed those two clowns? The first LA started it and the next one carried on, the gnats I can't remember what this next one was about, something about money(?) going adrift, and the current LA had to appear before a committee from the wee hoose. The first thing he did was remind them who he was, with regards to his position! FFS he's practically threatening the representatives of the people! This, even although the gnats were well represented on the board. Back to the directors and a question they may pursue. Why, given the result in their favour, 'malicious...without a shred of evidence' why was it not stopped by the police, or the procurator fiscal's office, before it reached the LA?! When my fellow Scots, who live there, post about the shenanigans going on there, they aren't conspiracy loons. This is happening now in the UK!
What can be done to counter them? If HoC steps in, it would have to do so, very carefully. The gnats would seize on any interference as proof of the "English bully." Why aren't they voted out, which would be by and far the best way? Quite simply, fear. Although I haven't experienced it myself, a rough Weegie accent can be useful at times

, I have been told on my many visits from people I know, this happened before during and after 2014. Go to the Police? See my previous paragraph.
All of this is in the public domain. Calling
@Auld-Yin @Dafty duck. I'm not sure if it was one of you who put the link up about wee nippy and the Lord Advocate being 'questioned.' It may even be on this thread. I believe I read about the Rangers fiasco in the 'Ghost, Sunday Post. The tales I've heard I can't verify, hearsay, but I have no doubt of their truth. You'll have believe me, or not.
I'd like The English amongst you to read my post, and think about it. Before they had the wee hoose, we faced down our foes together. We took the pish out of each other, but when the brown stuff hit the fan, we stood fast, together. You, English, have the largest population in our fair land. I've wavered myself on if I wish Scotland to remain, because I too am pissed off with the hatred the gnats have caused. But deep down I'd hate for us not to be standing together for another 300 years.
