Timing is everything:

Nicola Sturgeon is to announce plans to provide free school breakfasts and lunches to every primary school pupil in the country.

Hurrah, free stuff. Now where have I heard this before?

Well, I heard it in November when they announced it.

At times here, in Devon 50 + years, it's been a job keeping tabs on the events that's led Scotland to where it is now. Way back the SNP managed only a couple of seats. One exception was 70's/80's when they managed eleven, if I remember correctly. Also iirc most of the support was in the Highlands and Islands, which seems to have been reversed. The bulk of their support, as I read it after 2014, seems to now be in the Central belt, a worrying concept as that's where the majority live. I could understand if the SNP wanted Independence, and go their own way. However to immediately want to jump into bed with the EU, how in the name of the wee man can that possibly be construed as Independence?? Not in my book. I do wish you well next month. Be lucky.
All that has happened is the SNP have taken the SLabour votes, and the Labour Party has stood back and watched that happen. John Smith and Donal Dewar must be spinning in their graves over the way Labour has abandoned Scotland.

It seems as though St Nic (pbuh) is in a bollocks competition. Here is the latest piece of bullshit from the Murrell camp

Peter Murrell is a 'dab hand' at cutting First Minister's hair, according to a professional hairdresser

No doubt there are several of the Nic-eratti that will actually believe this. Surprising that it has taken until the lifting of restrictions on hairdressers comes in to operation before telling us this 'uplifting' story.
Perhaps the disambiguation is that he specialises in Brazilians, which is probably quite useful since they also speak a form of Portuguese....

John Smith was probably the best labour prime minister we never had

He's the reason we got B liar

as you said OY they must be spinning

Alba and Salmond analysed from a pro Indy viewpoint

Well, I heard it in November when they announced it.

This just annoys me, my daughter is a PF, on £50k +, is now being told that she cannot afford to feed my 2 granddaughters. What I want to know is whether she can use the vouchers at Waitrose or mail order Fortnums , so that the girls can get their Quails’ eggs and Sturgeon eggs as usual?

As I understand the proposal.

All term time lunches will be free to all primary school pupils.

Holiday meals will be on a needs basis. Similar to that at present, if qualify for school uniform grant.

As such, the grand kids foie gras and lobster will have to be self financed

Labour abandoned Scotland a long time ago. They thought that the voters would keep putting an X in the appropriate box for generations. Eventually the punters realised Slabour was doing nothing for them and changed allegiance. Hopefully the same hubris will affect St Nick and Fat Eck.
I'm not holding my breath.

My wife works in a special needs school, where they've been testing all the spackers and mongs with very little drama for several months (Special needs schools were open and widely attended throughout all the lockdowns, as the kids are by definition "at risk" of whatever). It appears that what your long list of justifications for not wanting a cotton bud up your nose boils down to, is you're more special than a Downie.
The basic point is what is the ‘and then what? What will the testing provide us? What is the value added? - kids with COVID are at minescule risk and so far no teachers have been linked to catching COVID from kids - in regard to adults, in an environment where nearly everyone in anyway vulnerable has now been vaccinated and therefore at very low risk of having severe symptoms what will be the so what Of 2 tests a week? - lockdown again? If so, why and to what end? - if barely anyone will be at an elevated risk why do this at massive expense ? My basic point is that COVID is guaranteed to be present in the population from now on for ever and constantly testing for it is a waste of resources

I would put the caveat that testing some folk in some jobs is worthwhile.
It is vital in trying to control covid in care homes and health care settings.

Strange - I thought your basic point was that doing the test made you gag. The rest of your post appears to be justification for you not wanting to do the test, 'cos it makes you feel icky.

Do you honestly think that there is no value in carrying out these tests, and that the only reason for doing them is to use up "useless" test kits? If so can I interest you in some shares in a bridge? I am not an epidemiologist, or a healthcare professional with experience of dealing with pandemics - are you? The Government has been advised by the leaders in the field that testing in schools and making tests available nationally on request has value and is worthwhile.

You'll forgive me if I place my faith in the Government's pandemic policy (which appears to have done rather well overall) rather than you not liking a tickly feeling on your tonsils.

The difficulty in persuading folk that the tests are useful is because we are testing so many folk.
As such, many are tested for occupational reasons rather than symptomatic reasons.

As such, even in the last period of high cases the percentage of positive tests was around 6%.

Under WHO guidance, we need to be under 5% to be deemed in control of the virus.

It's another of these measures that mean little on an individual basis as it is a binary option but when employed on a population level is effective.

The polls are showing SNP support rising again as the election nears despite all the negative news.
Alba is not getting much support at all, last 3 polls had 3%, this one for Sky has 2%, it is unlikely to return a single seat at this rate.
All for Unity don't even score enough to be separated from Others, they are also unlikely to have success.

wondering why you needed to post this on two sites 3 minutes apart Fang

I post it with different wording to reflect the slightly different following on each thread.

Will you be highlighting to all the others who also post on both?
