Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The RN's Lynx also has the M3M for use against small surface craft, as does the (RN) Merlin when deploying to certain theatres...
  2. Finally, Lynx 3/8 have been flying with these for ages. Question is, when will they finally bolt them onto Merlin, of either incarnation grey or green?

I also remember an excellent discussion on Pprune where the general consensus from those 'in the know' was that a high RoF weapon firing a .50 round is a better bet than a VERY high RoF weapon firing a 7.62 round (ie the minigun found on chinook) due to the greater accuracy and better penetration of cover that the larger round offers - this outweighing the benefits of the greater amount of rounds/corresponding greater likelihood of getting a hit.

    Good news regardless.
  3. They had sights like that on the Millenium Falcon didn't they?

Is this the .5 that all the American bombers were armed with in WW2? (Twelve o'Clock High and all that).
