The heart of the site is the forum area, including:
Will someone please shoot the person responsible for that idea?
Seriously, what do they hope is going to happen? Live footage of stagging on for hours in a spunk-drenched sangar? Patrols getting contacted in time for peak viewing times? Most of what the Army does on ops IS INCREDIBLY BORING!
Apparently, it seems like a Cocaine fuelled ad company's VERY misguided "let's have a brainstorming session and run it up the flagpole and see if it flies after some blue sky thinking" type "meedja" type. TSO simply said cynically, "Let's make them redundant and then rehire them at a cheaper rate on an ad hoc basis." She may be daft... but, conversly she's quite switched on... once in a year.
Just save the money and effort and have a poster campaign of Gareth with "You Country needs you" underneath.
To get a real flavour, why don't they have a live stream from mid week TA drill night. Give the public a chance to see what the TA do for the other 99.9% of their career. On parade, Sgt - "Come to attention and answer your name ... Pte Keenan? ... Pte Keenan? ... Keenan? ... Has anyone seen Keenan?" Pte - "Yeah he said he couldn't be bothered to come tonight".
"Volunteer and ex-regular members of the Reserve Forces will continue to deploy to Afghanistan as part of this integrated force package, and it is expected that around 550 call-out notices will be issued.
On completion of their mobilisation procedures, the reservists will undertake a period of training and, where applicable, integration with their respective receiving units. The majority will serve on operations for around 6 months although a small proportion of any force which is stood down due to force level reductions is likely to be reservist."
So progressively ever less to watch other than STABs being****ed around. It'll be like the TA forum but with moving images and sound. Sweet.
In the intro for the interview which we gave about this on Good Morning Scotland yesterday, they played a sound clip from the advert and the presenter's comment was "It sounds like Gary Tank Commander".
