Demolition work has started at RAF Lakenheath as part of a Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) project to prepare the base for the arrival of 2 squadrons of US F-35s.

This modern corporate language, where every project is exciting :boogie:

Perhaps it was the vague reference to BDSM, but having handed someone a £160M contract I would prefer them to be quietly businesslike and professional, and not engaged in a five knuckle shuffle while perusing the surveyor's report. :hump:

I liked the corporate language...

They are using a hydraulic excavator equipped with specialised attachments that can break concrete and steel, effectively ‘chewing’ the structures apart.

BUT yet ...

Timber and metal will be carefully preserved for re-use if appropriate. ?

Just how much timber was there , I doubt much at all in concrete structures built in when the 70ies or before at the height of the Cold War? and wow will they be re-using it or the metal as stated they are .....
