  1. Hi there.

This is to other parents who have sons and daughters away from home.

my son is preparing to leave for oversea duties, he will proberly see some action as he will be away for 6 months. Basically this will be his first tour and I am not looking forward to it.

im sure there are lots of families in the same situation, so what are your coping stratagies, how do you deal with life whilst love ones are away. my son is 18. Whats suggestions are there for me.

  3. A great site to visit is www.supportoursoldiers.co.uk. We all have either family on tour or just back from tour and loads of support for everyone.

  4. Rule 1. The biggest and most important rule.

    The Press Talks Bollocks.

Do not live the emotional rollercoaster that they may want to put you through. There's a shitload of idiot punditry and pap spoken whilst common sense dictates that the chances of your son even knowing about the 'big incident' is far lower. It's in the Press's interests to make small stories big and milk them for all that they are worth. Don't get sucked in.

    Welcome to Arrse.
