Hope you don't mind Cabarfeidh but I rejigged it a bit since some of the sections, the MBEs in particular, were a bit hard to follow as large blocks of text.

One Cpl.

Can't be much happening anywhere.
Yes, very disappointing really. Almost no one in the junior ranks. And yet these guys are at the sharp end. That's not to detract from those who have been honoured, but I really do feel that the man on the ground should be recognised for his contributions.

Maybe they should bring back the BEM to make sure they do get recgonised. :?:

Isn't it wierd? In the military, you have to be a Lieutenant Colonel to deserve an OBE apparently. In civvy street it's a doddle. Jonny Wilkinson got his 6 years after turning pro as a rugby player. Colin Jackson got a CBE when he retired after 18 years as a hurdler. 18 years...bloody hell, I haven't even got my LS&GC after that long....

I did spot an old boss on there who is serving with a certain high-profile mob. 30-odd years in the ranks and beyond and gets a bloody MBE. When you think that June "face like a melted welly" Sarpong got an MBE last year, it must be shit when she's a year ahead of you in seniority! Meanwhile Kylie gets a fcuking OBE for singing other people's songs. Proud to be British!

Didn't the AGC (SPS) do well?

In response to the earlier comment regarding the lack of JNCOs getting recognised they do much better in the bi annual operational awards, which are arguably worth more as they are earned in the field.

I didn't notice anyone from the Royal Regiment of Scotland on there (not including the headshed Late-Argylls). Am I blind?

Well done Kerry. It looks like an ex clerk RAMC is
the nearest we medics have got.

Private Eye had an interesting piece on Brig Warde who trousered a CBE.

Apparently he will be facing two counts of sexual discrimination in Jan 08 after he moved a female Maj to a lower-ranking appt when she became pregnant - according to the Eye.

Also noted lots of AGC (SPS) has this anything to do with the implementation of JPA?

"Also noted lots of AGC (SPS) has this anything to do with the implementation of JPA? "

As always AGC tend to get lots because they work for the headshed directly and if General Sid Ruff Diamond for example wants his clerk to have a reward for putting up with him then by Golly he/she will get one! The poor old Chief Clerk struggling to keep a line regiment admin together with bugger all clerks, little sympathy from his own headshed and naff all support from Glasgow will rarely picture when it is THESE AGC that should be honoured.

It has always ever been thus. IF it was for JPA then they should all be shot not rewarded according to the Jocks who are STILL waiting for their money from BATUS last August!

Perhaps the committee are ALL ex officers?
Who are used to sitting on their ARRSE's back in barracks, while to PBI are doing the REAL fighting!

Why so many Civvi's and SO few military? New Labour hates the military!!
