Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. How can new recruits take pride in joining the Army today ?
After comments from Des Brown ?
Can i just ask everyone who is joining how they feel being compared to thick people and how you feel at being an under achiever who cannot get a job in civvi street would like to hear what more new recruits think cheers.

    Glasgowchamp !!!

  2. They can take pride in doing something they want to do and doing it well, they can take pride in doing a job that betters them as a person. Mr Browne only showed he is an ignorant tw@t saying what he said.

  3. I would just like to add how i feel !!!

Yes i want to join the army to do the job i have wanted to do for years !
So a croupier is not a job that is respected ? to be a croupier you have to be smart at counting like doing times table of 35,17,11,8,5 try doing them on the spot or go to a casino and see how smart these people are, that is what i do for a living just now and feel him judging me and many others sicking :!:

who would want to work for an employer that is stabbing us in the back ?
His comments have really got to me and am having serious second thoughts now :!:

yes i am not one who is scared to voice my opinion and hope many others aint aswel :!:

edited to say i might go looking for a traffic wardens job haha

  4. Can someone post a link to these quotes? Cheers.

I haven't seen what he said, but I have 13 GCSE passes and I can't think of a more rewarding job (well this excludes money-wise seeing as traffic wardens get paid more...) for me do, the money aspect wasn't why i wanted to join, i want to serve my country but i do think soldiers should get paid more but that's a whole different subject.

The image of the army has been for too long a 'last resort' option and it has to stop being seen as that. Just looking on here and intereacting with you lot, it shows we're no a bunch of illiterate, stupid, *insert your own word her* people...well most of the time ;)

WHOEVER YOU ARE, WHATEVER YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND etc, BE PROUD AT THE JOB YOU ARE CHOOSING TO DO! YOU ARE CHOOSING TO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY AND PUT YOUR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR IT, WHAT COULD BE MORE HONOURABLE?

  5. see m8 its not just the money i am doing it for its for a career thats challenging where i can achieve goals fat MP'S can only dream about at night !

now this guy is ment to be behind us thats the part thats more annoying !!!!!

  6. This must have been a typo, should have been any.

  7. I'm seriously lost for words on MP Brown piece of sh*t!
How dare he talk about British soldiers like that!
I assume he was only referring to infantry due to you actually needing qualifications to get in he RE or REME etc...?

  8. I don't care what anyone else thinks, I am joining the best career there is.

  9. nicely said.

  10. R U SEYIN INFANRY IZ ALL FULL OV FICKOS???!!!!!

    Rofllollmao added for good measure.

  11. Haha no, I wasn't saying that at all...

  12. I got a high score on the BARB test and i could do any job i wanted to.

But i want to be with the elite and see the action, not stuck behind the scenes.

I could do anything and chose the Paras, i didn't choose infantry because i am thick. I am in the same position as alot of others too. Intelligent guys who want the elite and want to get themselves in with the big boys.

    Brown MP, TWONK! Army reject.

  13. Good, because It is infact, the job of Spartan Warriors with biceps of steel.

    W-60

  14. If employers have to choose between a film-studies graduate and an experienced soldier then who'll get the job?

  15. Nah i know plenty of decent blokes in the infantry, smart as hell and highly respected men.

Its just a big stereotype and I blame the media for the amount of sh1t they publish on TV as an image of the british army, don't know if you ever seen the movie Mark of Cain on Channel 4..... if not take a look at this video, its this sort of sh1t that gives both the british army as a whole and the infantry a bad name:
