Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Does anybody know how long you have to serve in the new pension scheme and does your time before your 18 count.
i joined at 16 on the old AFBS 75 pension and served until 2009 then rejoined in 2011 and am abit unsure when my time finishes.

  2. Forces Pension Society join them and they will help you out, they are pretty good at working out how it all goes together,

  3. Cheers Davie

  4. By "New Pension Scheme" I assume you mean the AFPS05? If so, all service counts regardless of age. In terms of getting an Early Departure Payment, you must serve 18 years AND be over 40 when discharged. Things will become a little skewed when the New New scheme comes in in Apr 15. As stated, join the FPS, it is money well spent.
