New pay statement layout is a bunch of arrse

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I've just had my third pay statement since JPA started, and I have to vent my spleen at the most complicated, confusing system I have ever had the misfortune to be slave to. The old pay statements had two columns, one credit, one debit. I could see quite easily at a glance what was going on. Why did they suddenly decide to replace them with the dross we have now? Was it so hard to leave the old ones as they were? Also, why the f*ck is LSA now displayed with two decimal figures?

  2. Agreed - Mrs Chimp could not make head nor tail of hers

  3. Its not just me then. Prior to this, I thought the drivers hours sheet was the worst designed piece of officaldom that I'd come across, but the new pay sheet wins by a considerable margin.

  4. I must admit that now I work in Civ Street and talking about the company I work for this sort of thing would not be allowed to happen (the whole JPA thing) because outside people would quit or sue the company. I work for a really big company and just moved to a big system similar to JPA called SAP and the whole thing was up and running within a month, ie, all bugs fixed. Why? Because the company had to listed to its workforce as if they didn't they lost them. On hindsight the civil service/Government have no urgency with JPA as they know you wont, or rather cannot quit quite as easíly as in Civ St so they will just ignore your issues and produce some meaningless bluster every now and then.

So what is my rant - they take advantage of the fact that servicemen have no voice.

  5. Surely you can understand that? :D :D

I don't even have a garage! I was only underpaid £200 this month so no great shakes!

To all you backstabbers and turds who introduced JPA- I hope you got the MBEs you so richly deserve.

  6. I'm only interested in the bit that tells me how many beer tokens i've got.

Just where would you start, and why do I have to go to Dunblane :)

  10. So does anyone have a definitive answer, or are we destined to wallow in an ocean of numbers and figures?

I always used to check my bank statement as it came in every month, and bitched about any discrepancies. I physically can't do this now, as I am not Mr Robert Langdon out of the Da Vinci Code, and am unable to decipher deeply encrypted code. Even my unit admin staff shrug their shoulders and offer their sympathies.

I'll be sat at the tube station in Victoria with a cardboard sign and a mangy dog if anyone needs me.

  11. I just went through it line by line and it made perfect sense-ok so it is wrong sense but sense it made...now about the £2,387.02 I am currently owed..................

  12. sorry but what earth is all that gibberish
what happened to the you are a scroat and earn X in bottom right hand corner the middle bits are tax and stuff

  13. What you have to remember is that the numbers in the left column are credits except where they're debits, and the numbers in the right column are debits except where they're credits, and when you add up all the debits (from the credit and debit columns) and subtract them from all the credits (in both the credit and debit column) what you end up with your pay.

Except of course when the debits in the credit column or the credits in the debit column (or even the credits in the credit column or debits in the debit column) are in fact wrong, then it does all tend to go pear shaped.

    Clear?

  14. JJ perfectly clear - ever thought of working for JPAC?

  15. No thanks, Jockster. If I wanted to be the object of contempt and hilarity from the Armed Forces I'd have joined the Royal Navy.

    Oh hang on...
