New Labour Leadership

Actually I was being a touch flippant to bring this thread back on track, away from Wet's constant turning of the thread away from anything anti Labour to anti Tory/Boris.
Flippant, you rascal. :)
He does seem to have his needle stuck a bit on Boris, record needle that is.

Have you any real evidence that this has led to "a massive dip" or is that your subjective and unsubstantiated view?
I will put it down to 13 years doing the job. And of course reports and studies that go on in within my force.

You can’t replace years of police experience before going on to move into CID after a rigorous selection, with someone recruited straight in.

What about those who are retired Police officers? Do they suddenly on becoming civvies lose all experience?

The Metropolitan Police (for example) seem to think differently to you. Direct Entry Detective Constable.

You should perhaps whizz off a strongly opinionated worded letter letting them know they are making a huge mistake.

Do you mean the people that do a 2 year probation after 20 weeks of training, starting as a Response PC before taking the National Investigators Exam, to progress onto The ICIDP to eventually become an accredited Detective. Many of whom fall by the wayside and either leave or go back to uniform.

What do they have to do with Civilian Police Staff Investigators?

This is my point exactly, why do they keep setting dates and numbers, that are not particularly relevant. They then just have to spin the figures to appear to be on track, this just makes people sceptical and distrustful.
Because ********* Like Starmer demand deadlines and quotas so that they can scream “not good enough”. The deadline then gets tightened and the quotas get upped, the cycle is repeated until the deadline was yesterday and the quota exceeds the number of people resident in the U.K. at which point the ********* Like Starmer flip over to the B side of the record and scream “you promised this, you failed to deliver, we would have done it better”. The assembled ********* who like Starmer, the Cliterati if you will, then all take to their Twitter feeds and spread the gospel. Some take to Arrse and bore the tits off people.

This is called “informed debate in the best interests of the nation” or playground politics for those capable of dressing themselves in the morning.

Where does ‘falling by the wayside and going back to uniform come from ...? These are direct entry detectives remember, they were never uniformed to start with.

No, it has more to do with your comment...

You can’t replace years of police experience before going on to move into CID after a rigorous selection, with someone recruited straight in.
... rather than Civilian Police Staff Investigators per se.

Quite clearly, years of police experience can be replaced by direct entry. Your comment is a little like saying:

“you can’t replace years of experience of being a private soldier before going on to be a commissioned officer with somebody recruited straight Into the army directly as a commissioned officer”

Presumably, a PC moving into a DC role would also be on probation and receive on job training in that role?

What Is Police Detective Direct Entry?
Police Detective Direct Entry is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a way of directly entering the police as a detective constable. Usually, you would need to gain a few years of experience with the police in order to progress up to this rank. However, now the police are offering talented candidates the chance to enter the force at this rank, and then progress from there.

If you are successful in applying for Direct Entry, you’ll start out as a trainee detective constable, under a two-year probationary period. The training will be suitably intense, with visits to operational police facilities and working within Criminal Investigation units. During your two-year period, you’ll need to complete the National Investigators’ Exam, and a Detective training course. Once the two-year period is up, you will be granted the rank of Detective Constable, and assigned the rank of Detective Constable.

Whilst working as a trainee, you’ll be assigned cases such as burglary, hate crime, sexual assault and fraud. Initially you’ll start with smaller crimes, before working your way up to serious issues.

You are obviously significantly well enough informed to make your own decision. Take it to a more appropriate thread if you want to continue to discuss it.

Stop derailing this one.

Cheaper civilian roles have been used to free up officers for frontline duties where a warrant is required to a certain extent. PCSO cannot really be used to replace PC and the biggest use is probably Police Staff Investigator (PSI) instead of DC or PC investigator. This has in my opinion led to a massive dip in investigation quality.
Are not Police Staff Investigator's retired CID who have come back on civilian contracts? I know one in my area, he is a specialist in one type of crime.

Or skip the monkey and go to the organ grinder and just ask Common Purpose directly

Aren’t a lot of PSIs ex coppers? Gen question, as a couple of guys I joined with did this.

But...but...Miss Marple...Hetty Wainthrop....what more proof do you need?

Quite a significant change. Could the appointment of David Evans as Labour Gen Sec be pivotal in bringing Labour back towards the centre and shedding the extremists, racists and communists?

Don't see it as pivotal in that fight, might be a small step towards it though with a heck of a lot more needed.

Where Labour are going to get anyone decent to become an MP let alone get on the front bench beats me at the moment.
