Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. You UK soldiers are always carrying on about parochial trifles such as the proposal of your enlightened government to conduct more military ops with fewer troops, the latest lies that it has told you for your own good, anticipated firemen's strike, what countries will participate in the next war, etc., etc.

I suggest you spare some attention for something really important, the civil rights of so-called "vermin."

    This is from today's Telegraph:

"A new animal welfare law that will offer slugs and snails the same protection as cats and dogs was condemned by gardeners yesterday.

"Legislation to be announced by the Government this week will give courts the ower to impose fines of up to 20,000 pounds and 12 months in jail on people found guilty of mistreating animals. Anyone under the age of 16 will be banned from owning a pet and goldfish will no longer be given as prizes at fairgrounds.

"The legislation could lead to gardeners being fined for killing insects, worms, caterpillars, slugs and snails, if scientific evidence proves they have suffered pain and distress."

"Gardeners Critical Over Slug Protection Laws," by Fiona Govan.

  2. Why do I get that ....NEVER HAPPEN! feeling?

  3. Blair is merely trying to protect his own back benchers as by and large they fall into these two categories. What will happen when Chirac complains that we are damaging the Escargot market is a different proposition (Blair will say that he intends to completely red line this before giving in to the French, who will then devour the Stepford MPs, whilsat Blair lauds his great victory).
