Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The crabs are getting new colours next week presented by the Queen at Fairford.

Ours had to be replaced in 89 after 20 years and we had to pay for the new guidon, stopped from our pay for two years before the day. This dispite us offering to dohbi it ourselves or knit a replacement :D.

Anyone know if they've had to pay for theirs?
  2. Navy got there's last year didn't they?

  3. :) Bad Baldrick!
  4. I like the "private event" bit - only 5,000 invited
  5. spike7451

    spike7451 RIP

But if Cyclops goes only 10 will turn up!
  6. easy to maintain, colours wont run, can be fashioned from many items (paper, bed sheets, etc)
  7. The Navy's only cost them an IPod
  8. Why did you have to pay for it? Surely the Queen or the MoD should stump up the cash?

  10. "The RAF was formed on April 1st, 1918. "

And since then it has taken on the tradition of being a bit of a joke... for the armed forces.

  12. Possible Stump WAH on, not sure we were all a bit miffed to say the least when we found out. Made it all the more worth while when the regiment was amalgamated a couple of years later. I assume they issued the new guidon as it was a new regiment. Don't know if anyone else on here has had to pay?

Thinking about it our RQMS was a bit of a wide boy and he probably pocketed the spondoolies. Git.
  13. No WAH mate, seems a bit wierd to have to pay for something that the Queen bestows.

She's a bit short of dosh, IIRC.

All those Regts and Corps to keep flagged/guidoned/standarded/bannered or whatever mustn't half dent her pension.
  15. Our cadets will be there - and have been fully briefed about making sure their uniform is completely perfect.

If any of you should be there do please moan if they are less than perfect - but a kind word if they deserve it will be appreciated!
