Watching PMQs and because May is not present then convention dictates that Corbyn has a day off also. Thornberry is doing the job, and I must say doing a lot better than Corbyn, but that is not my point.

When Corbyn is on the front bench he is always flanked by females of a non-white hue, used to be known as coloured. Today's PMQs has a very white Opposition front bench.

Just an observation!

It sounds like Layla Moran is in favour of no platforming and compares Trump to Putin. Perhaps she should get a taste of her own attitude and be no platformed from Politics Live.
You mean this utter man-slapping mentalist...?

PMQs? Aren't they still claiming parity with schools and being off on their holibobs?

Politics Live. Ex BBC presenter, Gavin Esler aggressively accusing Brexit Party member of telling lies about him referring to the Brexit Party as village idiots. Andrew Neil "Talking of village idiots..." asks Esler about the various name changes of his party Change UK.

Melanie Philips spot on about Labour occupying what was once known as the hard left and Conservatives the soft left, leaving a massive void on the right (and centre tbh). She says Nigel Farage is a single issue man, inferring that the void, as things stand, would persist post Brexit. Political realignment required.

Social "Science" professor with extravagant outfit is trying to justify the sacking of a researcher from Cambridge, effectively suggesting that he is affiliated to Nazi's. Trevor Phillips countering him with logic but getting no satisfactory answers in return. Paul Mason gets some publicity for his new book... He is a keen advocate of automation as long as it involves "communism or socialism"..
Isabel Oakeshott suggests that Mason's take on the "new far right" obscures the points of reference, where far right starts at (or left of?) the centre.
Trevor agrees about automation and cites the steam engine as ending slavery. His concern is machines deciding for themselves and humans having no control.
Andrew Neil interviews Ben Shapiro who accused him of being far left! He seems paranoid and very hostile.

And the 'professor' offered no evidence, and said he had not read the 'offending' work. Phillips made him look clueless,I don't think the prof was expecting such a hard time.
When Maaaason starts talking I find it hard to listen to him.

Professor Dibyesh Anand, Westminster Tech College (or is it really a University?). Found it hard to pick up some of his words, and his sentence construction was idiosyncratic. Trevor Phillips at one poit said 'based on what you've said, I don't believe you' or something similar.

Shapiro seemed to think it was a discussion about his book, whereas Brillo told him it was an interview to deal with issues raised in the book. Thought it was a score draw - no hissy fits, polite throughout other than professional 'teasing'.

Guido has posted the video of Andrew Neil's interview with Ben Shapiro. Neil is normally regarded as balanced and impartial. Shapiro accused him of being far left with a leftist agenda before calling time on the interview. Shapiro came across as very angry and possibly a bit paranoid. Isabel thought he could have saved himself a disaster of an interview by researching who his interviewer (Andrew Neil) was. Comments under the Guido post vary with opposing views on who "the mask fell from", whether Neil is "fair minded" (as he generally is) or a "leftist" (certainly not).
