New Application

Hi there,

I've scrolled through the forums time and time again looking for an answer but to no avail so I thought I'd post here. Apologies if this question has been asked before, feel free to point me in the right direction if it has!

I applied to the Army 5 years ago when I was 16 and at selection was deferred with a heart murmur. Once checked out at the hospital I was found to have a bicuspid aortic valve and the army declared me 'unfit for service'. I have since seen a specialist at the hospital who could see no reason to why the army would reject me for this reason as the 'defect' doesn't affect me in anyway. So 5 years on I'm considering applying again. Would I have to appeal against my previous application, apply again and go through the motions or is there somebody I can write to, to ask about my query??

Any useful answers would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
My friend for medically deferred and classed unfit for service when he was 17
Can't remember exactly what for, his mam paid for a private consultation with a specialist (in what he was deferred for) and they said they couldn't see why he was rejected.
Once they had this in writing and signed from the relevant people, they appealed against the unfit for service ruling
He had to go to Edinburgh for a full medical with the army
He's now training to be an officer!
Ring your afco and see what they say, it's worth appealing against if this is what you want to do!
Best of luck! :)
