Naughty, sneaky Russians up to their old (Soviet) tricks again

Can't find it anywhere else on here so have a look at this:

Russian attack submarine slipped past US Navy and patrolled Gulf of Mexico for weeks undetected | Mail Online

A Russian attack submarine slipped into the Gulf of Mexico undetected and sailed through US strategic waters for weeks without the US Navy noticing, it was reported on Wednesday. The US military didn't even know about the presence of the Akula-class nuclear submarine earlier this year until after it had already left the gulf, still carrying a payload of long-range missiles.

The revelation is part of a startling trend of Russian incursions as the former Cold War foe ramps up its military might under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin.

As someone who is so scared of water I dread having baths and consequently not very well up on Navy matters, why would it carry a long-range payload when it's primary purpose is hunter-killer? (Just askin', like)
a sub isn't "so bad", it's probably half a decade since it was reported they had resumed their aggressive, simulated nuclear bomb runs over the north pole, charging headlong for canada and the us, and then veering of at the last moment when NORAD just about crapped their pants, and the canadians and us air forces were scrambling with a bad case of dejavu.

Most of them carry cruisey type missiles these days so they can dual roled.
Either that or the Heil is playing fast and loose with military capabilities.

You decide.
We're absolutely sure that no US subs are doing the same thing off other countries' shores? Big boy's games tend to get played by big boys on both sides.

And how does anyone know the sub was ever there.
A bunch of unshaven guys turned up in a Miami bar with snow on their boots? Submariners play weird but fascinating games. They are best left to it in my view.
