Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. From Reuters:

"WASHINGTON, July 1...Naval and air force units from 10 countries will take part in a major U.S.-led NATO military exercise off Morocco in July, the Pentagon said..."

The exercise will involve "about 20,000 troops, more than 20 warships and submarines and large numbers of aircraft."

Participating states include: UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, and one non-NATO country, Morocco.

The purpose of this is "a growing push," by NATO, "to increase its ability to address security needs in the Mediterranean region."

All units will be under the command of U.S. Sixth Fleet Vice Adm. Harry Ulrich, who said that:

"This is a rare opportunity for a coalition of maritime forces to refine the complex skills necessary to prepare for and conduct integrated operations with multiple aircraft carriers and other vessels.

"It will truly demonstrate the collective powers and versatility of our combined NATO maritime forces."
