National Insurance Number for Irish Citizens

Discussion in 'Ireland (ie. Irish Defence Force)' started by tmsbry, Dec 15, 2008.

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm Irish I just passed selection & I've been told I can't start depot till I get a national insurance number, which is really frustrating because I live in Ireland.
I rang up the National Insurance people & they said through a special system I can get it within a week but I have to travel to the UK to fill in papers
Is there any internet site or way for Irish citizens to get through this easier?
    Thanks

It appears you need an interview See Here.

Someone else may come up with a better idea but I suggest you read through the gumfff and see if there is any contact details.

  4. I got a summer job in the UK as a student and was given a NI no. for tax purposes. When I returned to the UK many years later to join the Army, the same number sufficed. No problem. I admit that things have changed a lot since then. Good luck anyway.
