Nasty rumours

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hello all
A mate on another site has spoken of an ex-booty friend of thiers being questioned about incidents that occurred thirty years ago over in NI. I am not in full possession of the details yet but I understand he has not been charged with anything...yet.

Have you heard anything about investigations of this type? It has the same smell as the 'witch hunt' against 3 Para concerning alleged 'war crimes' against Argy prisoners during the Falklands War.

If you hear anything i would be grateful if you can let me know via PM on on here - but don't put yourself at risk. If it is too sensitive to ask about, then just confirming that this is the case will help a lot.

    Many thanks,

p.s, seriously, i'm no jurno or walt
  2. Your mate needs to be clear who is doing the investigating. A former colleague who had been present on Bloody Sunday, had a knock on the door about three years ago. The investigator, turned out to be a Private Investigator employed by a journalist. Local Plod and SB were called, to escort said PI packing.
  3. Proof Positive then. :D
  4. Spicey : respectfully suggest you read, mark learn and inwardly digest the Bloody Sunday thread, running for a while now.

Your mate's mate would be well-advised to say nothing without a solicitor present.

And AB06's advice is v. sound, too.
  5. this is all good stuff/advice. thanks guys
  6. I can't find the thread you refer too mate. sorry for being a skipplicker
  7. I'd also get him to insist on knowing where his details were obtained from, and who & which organisations allowed there release. He probably won't get this at the time, but my former colleague had been out 15 years, moved 6 times and was living outside of the UK. Go figure?!
  8. Its scary sh1t. My mate is not the brightest in the bunch and may fall foul of the shut up and say fcuk all rule.

No - you claim to be a copper and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. How and why will this info help you?

Are you trying to circumvent your own employers rules and do a little freelancing? Impacting on an ongoing investigation? Naughty, naughty...

I suggest if you want to know, you ask your employers about the case and see what they say. I'll suggest they will give you the same answer as me - do one, junior....

PS - see you now employ spell checker - well done
  10. Get him to read the Bloody Sunday thread as well!

This is a seriously shitty area - fair play to you Spice for asking. Worth bearing in mind what's going on here, in relation to the numbers currently serving on operations under questionable foreign policy. This is something which is going to go on and on.
  11. No spellchecker

    NO freelancing

just helping a mate but not doing owt naughty
  12. I can't find the bloody sunday link on here!

If he has done nothing wrong, he has nothing to answer for and shouldn't be worried.

You are the cop - you tell me why he should be worried.....
  14. Cheapseats, stop fishing, this is serious. If you can't or don't want to help me then fine. but just shut up
  15. Just been told that it was "a civil mainland force" that visited the Marine.

They had records on the mainland of 'all' NI related incidents and asked him about an occasion when he had to open fire. He has recieved a lot of letters from the MOD assuring him that there will be no trouble.... hmmm.

    Will keep you informed.
