Nasty rumours

Hello all
A mate on another site has spoken of an ex-booty friend of thiers being questioned about incidents that occurred thirty years ago over in NI. I am not in full possession of the details yet but I understand he has not been charged with anything...yet.

Have you heard anything about investigations of this type? It has the same smell as the 'witch hunt' against 3 Para concerning alleged 'war crimes' against Argy prisoners during the Falklands War.

If you hear anything i would be grateful if you can let me know via PM on on here - but don't put yourself at risk. If it is too sensitive to ask about, then just confirming that this is the case will help a lot.

Many thanks,

p.s, seriously, i'm no jurno or walt

Your mate needs to be clear who is doing the investigating. A former colleague who had been present on Bloody Sunday, had a knock on the door about three years ago. The investigator, turned out to be a Private Investigator employed by a journalist. Local Plod and SB were called, to escort said PI packing.

Spicey : respectfully suggest you read, mark learn and inwardly digest the Bloody Sunday thread, running for a while now.

Your mate's mate would be well-advised to say nothing without a solicitor present.

And AB06's advice is v. sound, too.

I'd also get him to insist on knowing where his details were obtained from, and who & which organisations allowed there release. He probably won't get this at the time, but my former colleague had been out 15 years, moved 6 times and was living outside of the UK. Go figure?!

No - you claim to be a copper and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. How and why will this info help you?

Are you trying to circumvent your own employers rules and do a little freelancing? Impacting on an ongoing investigation? Naughty, naughty...

I suggest if you want to know, you ask your employers about the case and see what they say. I'll suggest they will give you the same answer as me - do one, junior....

PS - see you now employ spell checker - well done

Its scary sh1t. My mate is not the brightest in the bunch and may fall foul of the shut up and say fcuk all rule.
Get him to read the Bloody Sunday thread as well!

This is a seriously shitty area - fair play to you Spice for asking. Worth bearing in mind what's going on here, in relation to the numbers currently serving on operations under questionable foreign policy. This is something which is going to go on and on.

If he has done nothing wrong, he has nothing to answer for and shouldn't be worried.

You are the cop - you tell me why he should be worried.....

Just been told that it was "a civil mainland force" that visited the Marine.

They had records on the mainland of 'all' NI related incidents and asked him about an occasion when he had to open fire. He has recieved a lot of letters from the MOD assuring him that there will be no trouble.... hmmm.

Will keep you informed.

The only reason why an individual is investigated (as you so kindly pointed out on another thread) is if there has been a crime and he has been linked in some way.

Again as you pointed out, the CPS prosecutes only on the basis of what comes out of an investigation by your fine organisation.

Thick or not, if he is clean, he should have nothing to fear. If he isn't, then frankly he deserves what then follows. Friendship has nothing to do with justice, perhaps a lesson you need to remember.

Don't you trust the UK Police and justice system to do things right?

I am not fishing for info - you are.....and that to me smells.

Well fcuk me, I bitched you on another thread and you take this time to make some half arsed digs? Yes, I do have faith in he police (the CPS is another matter/argument entirely) I'm only asking for some direction, not exactly perverting the cause of justice am i? You come accross all holier than thou yet i've still to see you espouse a valid opinion weighted in some depth of fact. I don't claim to be a copper, I AM a copper. When you have a minute to extract your head out of your own arrse then maybe you'll have some time for other peoples problems. I don't need the 'benefit of the doubt' from the likes of you, i have nothing to prove to you. So before you go on gobbing off with your leftie nonsense just remember this, all 36 PMs I've had about you have been negative, and some have even called you a walt!!, you! a walt!, I obviously told them that that could not be true as you know everything! Just jog on you mug and stop trolling on this serious subject. The sooner I find the bloody sunday thread and get away from your baiting the better. Love you loads

The whole thing stinks. There is an ex Rupert over in NI who now wears a dog collar. He's working with several Republican groups, who I believe are funding him. Hes trying to get the new assembly to back a South African type 'peace and reconciliation' tribunal, the idea being to force all concerned, including ex squads, to 'confess' their sins, under the threat of imprisonment for failure to appear. This is a real threat. Many of the guys are dumping big style over this. His angle is the cash that would be flying about if this happened.
