Ah, memories to last a lifetime (albeit not one's that you'd readily tell your grand kids )
Nothing like stumbling around the Breakfast Bar not too sure what day it was let alone what time, chewing the fat with hollow and bleary-eyed fellas from both Regiments and of all ranks...definitely the best Sapper garrison since Gibraltar in the 1700s
Yes it was 'The Village' opened on my tour in sunny Hameln...... I miss the the place...far too many good nights out. Breakfast bar! Being in town on Saturday morning doing the shopping and bumping into your mates/ and wifeys who are so far gone they do that "alright mate" not realising how drunk they sound...PMSL thinking about that one.
I wonder how the various drinking venues are doing as 35 moved out to Pad B?
Little"P's" was pure quality as was the "Beer House No1" underneath "Shadows". Iserved in Hameln during the mid to late 80's in the real regt at Gordon bks!! Does anyone else remember "Dick The Chips", "Zille's", "Big P's" (Atlantis)?
Agree with the comment that Hameln was fantastic posting but not the same when you go back again especially when you go back as a "PAD"& not a singlee.
Those and the Hammer & Toenail....memories of amnesia & hangovers just came rushing back! (plus ending up in the Med Centre 'cause I came in off the p*ss, went to the open air Sudbad and slept the sleep of a very drunk man in the sun for hours on end....what a funny colour I was ).
Another one - the Cartoon, early 80's....anyone remember that one?
